I made it through another day is what he means at the end. I think it's about one of those days you feel so alone, you isolate yourself from all your loved ones. Then you start to contemplate about suicide but you really don't want to and you fight yourself. That's probably what the badge represents-a war inside of you on that day. Well, this is only to give my own opinion: I think this song is emotionally loaded of energy. I identified myself with this song. I had been in love and he passed away two weeks after having listened to this song. I had listened to it four or five months before and when I asked him to listen to it... he died two weeks later. It has love in it. I felt very lonely the day he died and the following year. Every time I listen to this song, it recalls me the great love I had for him. Thanks. It doesn't really cross the 'emo gothic no one suffers like me' line, in my opinion. If you listen to the song it actually sounds like it drew influences from the Rolling Stones and the Animals (specifically 'Paint It, Black' in the lyrics and 'House of the Rising Sun' in an odd way). And before anyone jumps on me for that one, I'm not saying they're THAT good, I'm saying it sounds like they were going for that idea. I like it for that reason.
