The Reviews about Sublime (page 4/ 4)
i was a fan | Reviewer: nick vittum | 7/15/05
I was a fan of Sublime for many years... and I'll admit claiming that none of their music was any good would be short sighted. But there are two things that have put them on the bottom of my list of listenable music. For one, the lyrics. A swath of timed shallowness reflecting an overly trendy culture. "All of the dj's surely have taken a lesson, try talkin' trash and I'll come with my smith and wesson". My point lies between the quotations. The other reason I won't be listening to them anytime soon is the butchering of certain classics. Take "no woman no cry", a classic, timeless, Bob Marley masterpiece. Did Bradley have to write a childish, tasteless version of the song? If he appreciated his predecessors so much, he should have left them alone. There are other reasons that I have disbanded my listening efforts towards the deceased group, but there is no need to talk about them after realizing the first two. plus it is late, I am tired, and Sublime probably don't need any more reviews written about them.
