bathe and hunt | Reviewer: kali | 4/23/13

term draw your bath load your gun is suicide in general. A very common way is to shoot ones self in the tub.

Now he will be there for her no matter what by drawing her a bath (maybe suicidally) but he hopes she does what guns and bath tubs are commonly used for. Bathing and hunting. :)

Bathin Hun | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/8/13

Guys, the lyrics don't say bathe and hunt, they say bathin Hun. It goes: "I'll draw your bath and I'll load your gun, but I hope so bad that you're bathin' hun." It implies that instead of using the gun to kill herself, he wants Annie to take the bath.

""I'll draw your bath and I'll load your gun, but I hope so bad that you bathe and hunt." I always used to think he said 'in harm." but what is and hunt supposed to mean. To pursue? I don't get it.."

Well, he draws her a bath and loads her gun. Her intention is probably to commit suicide, but he doesn't want her to, instead hoping she'll use the bath to bathe, and use the loaded gun to go hunting instead of killing herself. I've never been able to quite make out the lyric in the song itself, but now that I've read it it makes much more sense than "in harm" or "and hum", which are the things I used to hear!

Annoyed | Reviewer: Peter | 11/30/11

JESUS CHRIST!!! 6 pages of comments that all say the same thing! There are one or two that go against the grain by being blatantly idiotic, and EVERYONE has to say something? Shut the fuck up. The guy below me knows what he's talking about, because he actually did some research, but by GOD some people need to quit the redundancy!

Tomas revealed the exact meaning of the song. He says it was written for 2 or 3 people.
He used to work at a camp for special needs kids and there were two of the campers who were best friends. Every time one would go under anesthesia for surgery, the other one would say "When you wake up everything is gonna be fine." Or maybe it was the next line in the song. It's been awhile since I watched it.
The second person was a friend in college who was suicidal.
Just go find the video on youtube. He went under the name Toh Kay.

"And so she wakes up
in time to break down"

"But don't take your life
'cause it's all that you've got
You'd be better off just off and leaving
if you don't think they will stop

"Fuck buying flowers for graves"

"I'll draw your bath and I'll load your gun
But I hope so bad that you're bathe and hunt"

""If everyone has someone else,
then I ain't got nobody's love to save me" (save me)
Save me, and she says "I think I'll pass away tonight,
'cause it seems I'll never get it right, it's just me" (just reality)"

Okay, imo it has to be about suicide, because he wouldn't relish buying flowers for graves of her murder victims or something like that, the simple quote of "but don't take your life" should be enough to clue that off. Sure he will load her gun, but what would a bath have to do with it if it weren't suicide, you know, the silence the shot or drown if the bullet doesn't quite do it etc. "I think I'll pass away tonight 'cause it seems i'll never get it right, it's just me" There are few ways to dictate when you pass away, and it is also seen as the only way to escape in some situations. I just don't see it meaning anything else, it also seems to send an anti-suicide message to pretty well everyone.

an assumption that i think we can all make | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/4/10

I think the "Don't wanna find her full name followed by dates" definitely signifies the girls name being in an obituary. Also i dont see the crime thing in it. But i agree with the reviewer "Dead Robots" comment "We should never think we know what the songs about and claim that's what it's about if we don't know for sure.
" That is a wise thought.

Meaning. | Reviewer: DeadRobots | 8/2/10

If you look at it another way it has the vague meaning of someone running away from home too, that or a break up. I'm not saying that's what it's about since lets face it, they wouldn't write a song about something as contrived as that.

I'm with the suicide group because "If I pass away Tonight," Now kids what does pass away mean?

Actually it could be about someone who's been committing crimes who wants to stop.

It can be anything it gall depends on your point of view on the lyrics.

I say the only way to know for sure what it's talking about would be to ask Thomas Kalnoky himself. We should never think we know what the songs about and claim that's what it's about if we don't know for sure.

Amazing... | Reviewer: TheGuyThatWentNumb | 7/29/10

I love this song and Streetlight Manifesto so much. I love the meanings and lyricism that Kalnoky puts into his work. I also agree that this song is about suicide and depression and how he is pleading for her not to take her life. I think @Hadokendude had it right but that is just my opinion. I just love it... I get goosebumps every time I listen to the Everything Goes Numb album especially this song. My alltime favorite. Thank you Streetlight Manifesto for giving us this absolutely amazing music. I can honestly say this song and Cd was a key part in my life I listen to it whenever I am depressed and this just inspires me to be a better person and musican, I just wish I could tell Mr. Kalnoky this in person...

Meaning? | Reviewer: Hadokendude | 7/17/10

This is most definitely my favorite Streetlight song. I love everything about it, especially the lyrics (I usually don't pay much attention to lyrics). However, it seems like people are divided between the song being about a suicide or a crime.

I don't know the true meaning of the song, but I'm leaning more towards suicide than crime. Sure, you could definitely say that Annie committed a crime, but there's no evidence for/against it. As far as suicide goes, the first verse says that she "left a note up on the dresser, and she's right on time", which would be her preparing to commit suicide (further compounded upon in the next verse with, "But don't take your life"). More examples would be the "draw your bath and load your gun" set of lines ("I hope so bad that you bathe and hunt" instead of drown/electrocute/shoot self), she can't find the "cure to all her problems", the "loneliness is killing [her]", "I think I'll pass away tonight", "Fuck buying flowers for graves" (her funeral), and "Don't want to find your full name followed by dates" (obituary). So clearly, this song is about a depressed girl named Annie, who is contemplating suicide.

The song is also about Tomas's love for Annie. Throughout the song, it seems like Tomas is pleading with Annie not to commit suicide. He continually reassures her that when she wakes up, everything will be better and that she won't be faced with her problems. Tomas wants to do whatever he can to help her ("I'd rather buy you a one-way nonstop to anywhere"), but he can't help her commit suicide ("I'll start the engine...I hope so bad that you bathe and hunt"). In the end, Tomas tells Annie that he'll always be there for her no matter what, even if she decides to give up (the entire last verse). So the way I interpret it, is that the song is about Tomas's relationship with a girl named Annie, who is struggling with depression, and his pleas for her to not take her life. The song is definitely open to interpretation however, which is one of the reasons why I like it so much.

so... | Reviewer: Lonnie | 5/18/10

This is one of my favorite songs my Streetlight Manifesto, Everything about it I love: the sound, the lyrics, EVERYTHING. But I don't understand why so many people are thinking Annie committed a crime...What it means by saying "Don't wanna find her full name fallowed by dates" is talking about the obituary section in the paper. Okay so that means she is dead not committed a crime. But I hate arguing with people so "that's it that's all"...

If u knew anything about streetlights song writing there is no true meaning to their songs. its whatever you take of it. people find messages and meanings in their songs that they didn't even intend for. don't take it from me because they say it themselves.

Wow, dumb, | Reviewer: Devin | 4/18/10

'This song IS about suicide, but its also about a girl commiting a crime.
"looking through the paper today, looking for a specific page, i dont wanna find her full name followed by dates"
Aparently, this girl, Annie, has done somthing wrong and wants to kill herself before she gets caught. But this guy says shell help her to get away from the problem at hand.'

Dude an obituary is that exact thing. It has its own page, with each person and their name and picture, and their DOB and their date of death.

Kalnoky said this song is about loving someone who wants to commit suicide. Grow up and realize that the singer said the song is about that.
