When I first heard monster i was a teen ager and loved the honesty now look at the cover of the record the drawing of us the monster is great The song is more real today then in 1970 it is an anthem.
Let's Resurrect this! | Reviewer: Eric Bard | 11/16/2007
It is time for someone to ressurrect this song! It is so relevent and wise. Let's all try in our own ways to get it listened to. Then the youth may have a chance to halt the military-industrial-complex's neocon lackeys destruction of
our freedoms through mendacious fear.
Deja Vu | Reviewer: R. D. Laswell | 10/4/2007
I was a teenager in the late 60's/early 70's when this music first was released. It was written as a biting commentary on yhe cyclic nature of the American governmental system.
The irony as I see it is that we continue to follow in the groove laid down by the founders of our nation.
When the first colonists came to America, they took what they wanted from the natives, and enslaved others to become a labor force for thier profit.
Today we invade a foreign country in a thinly disguised bid for the oil production there and enslave millions of legal and illegal aliens with low paying jobs.
In my opinion the Monster is still on the loose.
Monster | Reviewer: Rocky | 7/30/2007
I agree it's too bad this song didn't get more air time, as it's message and melody still fit and are still are applicable some 35 years later. Isn't amazing how some things never change, especially when we are talking about the Government?
Relevance | Reviewer: Jeff Thiebauth | 4/14/2007
Nearly forty years later and these lyrics are as descriptive of today's America as they were when written. It's a damn shame. Too bad a collection of songs as lyrically & musically creative as Monster is gets buried by the overkill of 'Born to be Wild' and 'Magic Carpet Ride'.
