I cannot help but think that both parties in the song have been abused. As a survivor of sexual abuse, I tend to think it is that. When he says, "I can see through you...inside you are ugly...ugly like me." It seems like he is talking about the walls that we put up after we have been abused in this way, the ugliness inside - guilt, shame, anger, etc. that we feel even though it wasn't our fault. This song reaches to my inner core and often makes me cry. I love it when a band can sing about life and honestly bare their soul. To me, this is talent!!
She probably brings him to his knees because he loves her so and she cannot let him in...as a result of the trauma that she has not dealt with.
This song is a work of art!! Fine job!!
