A Perfect Moment | Reviewer: A Gem | 3/21/09
Elusive and unexpected, but so true. This song was playing, barely audible, when the most perfect moment of my life came and smacked me in the face. I'll never forget this song or that night. For a while that night, I did forget the world and it was beautiful.
This song reminds me of my dog. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/29/09
For me, this song represents how I feel about my dog, and how he makes me feel when I spend time with him. The line about "chasing cars" pretty much draws the divide between human and animal. I can't ever imagine wanting to do something like that unless it was between me and my dog. Also, he lets me appreciate the simple pleasures, and the more fundamental things in life like walking in the "garden", which for us is the wilderness. And his eyes are "perfect" because they emit love and innocence.
Finally finding Love | Reviewer: Kevin | 12/16/08
I finally found the true love of my life, my soulmate, "the one" at 46 years old. I had given up after 3 marriages to "the wrong one" trying to make things right. She had the same exact situation and our daughters brought us together. I love every word of this song because it is us. This keeps us going, gives us hope, and there is hope when you all but give up.
Reminds me of the Love of My Life | Reviewer: Rose | 11/26/08
After 40 years the love of my life who is my soul mate and I found each other again after our marriages split up and the last time we were together reminds me of this song. It is bittersweet for me because he thought he was too old (he has agent orange from viet nam )and won't see me the last 3 years. Yet the last time we were together I told him I wished we could both go away and forget everything. When I first heard this song I was amazed at how it reminded me of my 1 true love and the last night we were together. It is true that those 3 words can't say what laying in someone's arms that you care deeply about means. It is a memory I will carry with me. You younger people cherish the time you spend with a love of your life. I did and will never regret it. I feel as if this song was written for me. It reminds me of that beautiful night.
Love it. | Reviewer: Martin | 11/23/08
I love this song. It makes me remember how great my relationship is. The three words mentioned... snow patrol is right... they're not enough. I wish my special someone would realize that. She'll never be on this site for these lyrics but I'll tell her eventually. Lol.
Song Meaning from Snow Patrol themselves | Reviewer: IMSandman | 11/21/08
Snow Patrol appeared on "Live From Abbey Road" (great series) on the Sundance Channel recently. Different groups/artists show up each week and get to record their songs in the hallowed halls of the Beatles.
In any event, Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol said (a direct quote):
"Chasing Cars is something that stands outside of the usual material because it is a love song and there's no sting in the tale and it's not about me being an idiot.
It's just about a moment in time with somebody that is very, very special to me. So it's the purest kind of a love song that I've ever written."
Thus, based on that, I'd say that it is about one moment in time where he is professing his immense love for someone else. Simply saying "I love you is not enough" to express how he feels. The way to express what he wants to share with her is by going beyond the 3 words. He does this by simply just wanting her to lay down with him and spend time together focusing on nothing else except each other.
He's laying with her and telling her that she's his everything. They don't need anyone and all that he ever was showed up in her absolutely perfect eyes that he doesn't have the desire to look at anyone else.
He wants to enjoy every minute of his life with her by not worrying about anything or anyone else and by playing in the "garden of life" before they grow old together. Moreover, that's why they are "chasing cars"... it is because the concept is so simple and they can derive pleasure from even the most basic things in life.
Thus, would you lay with me and just forget the world?
Cheers!
:)
build up | Reviewer: Kristian | 11/8/08
This song is peaceful. This song is sad. Something seems fractured for him. He seems so certain of what they had in retrospect. Why do we have to get to retrospect before we realize what's precious? But Snow Patrol, you take just four minutes in "Chasing Cars" to jolt us through ache to fight for love, beauty and rest-forsake all others before we get too old. Before circumstances are set in stone. I love you Damaris. Now and forever. In earnest, I pray God, protects our love. And yours.
Perfect. | Reviewer: Annie | 10/16/08
I remember when this song first came out I made fun of it because of the music video.
But a couple months later I came across this song again and the lyrics hit my heart so painfully. Reminded me of that one guy, who was made for me, someone I can never have. I can't stop listening to this song and singing it with my piano.
I just love the lyrics:
"If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world? "
"All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see"
This song is perfect on so many levels.
Chasing Cars or chasing the dream? | Reviewer: tom | 6/4/08
The first time I heard this song I fell in love with it. The smooth melody and vocals building towards the dramatic finish and then...fall silent. Never gave much thought to the words until I decided to add it to my playlist for my karaeoke. Bam!!! It hit me like a sledge hammer. All the pent up emotions from losing the woman I loved were released the first night I sang this on stage. I sang through tears, I sang through grief...I realized that I would never feel that kind of love again...I couldn't because my body and soul could not take it. I love you Alena
Hot Guitar Player with hot girlfriend Alex! | Reviewer: Luke | 5/3/08
I love this song because if it weren't for this song I would have never met the love of my life. I was at school and I was listening to this song and this girl who I liked sat with me and sang to it and I knew that she was the girl for me. Ever since then I loved this song and I own it and I can sing it and play it on my guitar. At our prom I told the DJ to play this song and everyone including us slow danced and it was romantic. Me and Alex walking barefoot on the beach where the prom was feeling the cool breeze in my hair and just smiling. We layed on the sand and looked up at the sky and we kissed. I sang this and played my guitar at her Sweet 16 and even today we are still together and still crazy for this song and we recommend this song for people who have girlfriends or boyfriends. I love Alex forever more!
