It tells about absolute dedication, now matter what are the circumstances. A cautious demanding 'would you just lay with me' offering kind of sense in live and...'just forget the world' ... Such intensity 'bursting into life'. It is a song about what could be, but 'these things will never change for us at all '. For me it seems to be like one always pursues what is unlikely to be achieved. To my mind, it was worth living if you ever felt this way. "Those three words/I said too much/They're not enough" For a very long time, I thought he was simply referring to 'how I feel', which he had just said, but now I'm beginning to wonder if he's talking about 'I Love You'. It's very sad. The comment Nina made about the origin of the phrase 'Chasing Cars' has also explained more of what the lyrics actually mean. 'Let's waste time chasing cars around our head' and 'Forget what we're told before we get too old', almost speaking against what his father said, to take life while you still can, while you are young.
