But that's the beauty of their lyrics..... | Reviewer: seerAphiim | 11/22/10
They're not a one sided story, the lyrics have a certain meaning to the band, yes. But they can be seen from many angles and one can apply them to one's current situation. Master lyric-craft this is!
The song... | Reviewer: Name | 11/9/10
I looked through all the comments and thought yes, it may be about his wife, it was also seemed to be a modern day take on Estella Havisham from the Charles Dickens novel "Great Expectations" and Pip's feelings for her how he is head over heels in love with her, but she has been brought up to break boys hearts and constantly is horrible to him, watch the movie or read the book to honestly understand what i mean
real meaning | Reviewer: Josh | 8/29/10
The real meaning of this song is about the band themselves and their music. It's about them going through a change and their music changing along with them hence the big difference in the sound of their next album. And Vermillion pt. 2 is about the same thing they're still describing the change but they're using personification to do so.
Life to the vermillion | Reviewer: Chay Helmsley | 8/22/10
I love all of your reviews, because alot of them are in a way,the same as my personal view on the song.
I belive that he fell inlove with his perfect girl, but she wasnt inlove with him.She pained him by breaking his heart over and over again,But due to his love for her,it would hurt him even more not to be with her,And there for was in a struggle that either way he looses.
I think... | Reviewer: michael | 7/29/10
It seems to me that its the kind of love that you find once in your life and he found it the kind of person that tears you to peace's and breaks your heart one momment then the next momment she puts him back together over and over and no matter how much he hate's what she is doing to him he cant do anything but let her rip him to peace's and put him back together over over and it saddens him to no end so much so to the point were he is dependent on her abuse...thats just my take on it and i could be wrong. im in the kind of relationship that i think he is describing.
what a sexy song!! | Reviewer: Anna | 7/24/10
This song is perfect for me. It describes me - I fell in love with the picture I created in my head, not in who he was. He broke my heart and offended me, then completely got out of my life. His name used to hurt me, I cried so many nights becuz of him.. yes, he was the only one that made me sad! Nowadays I got over it.. He isnt real! I cant make him real! What a beautiful song <3 and part two :(
Truth | Reviewer: Chris | 5/27/10
This track means a lot to me as dose part 2. i met a girl who i had hopes and dreams about everything went great till i fell for her, then i realized she wasnt the person i had dreamed about in my head, she had to run away from my love beacuse she had been so hurt by it recently herself, and now all i feel is hatered and regret that i didnt see that before.

meaning | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/7/10
I think this song has a different meaning for everyone. However, I think most agree with me, and believe that is a beautiful song.
To me it tells a story about a person (real or make believe) who seems so perfect on the outside, but isn't really real. The person might be not who they clame to me. That is just one interpretation though.
what i think it means | Reviewer: gary | 3/30/10
i think it's when nothing with a girl outside of your dream world works out, so your dream girl is the one you fall in love with but she's not real. " I am a slave and I am a master" i think means that he controls it but at some points she takes over, and in her (or his) world she can't reach him, and the butterfly represents them letting go of each other, if you go to the next part it shows the release of the dream
Awesome song | Reviewer: Anass | 3/25/10
Simply, one of the best songs ever. A deep meaning, however you understand it. It's mainly about a girl in his imagination that he finally discovered she wasn't real,he just imagines stuff and I saw a similar thing ina movie
the real meaning | Reviewer: name | 3/17/10
i think the real meaning of the song is, when you just brake up with some one and you dont want to let go of them, so its saying that you cant move on with life in till you move on with the break up
meaning of all the meanings | Reviewer: prateek mittal | 12/12/09
hey guys...so nice of you to present your interpretation of ''vermilion''....it was awesome reading all the different views....and the thing is they all fit...so that just proves it,its a perfect song....you can all visualise yourself and your feelings correctly depicted via the song...and thats the beauty....the lyricist leaves it open for the reader or listener to derive their own meaning.....
I for one felt that the song connected well with my internal conflicts....of how i couldnt get things to work out as i wanted them to....of my constant failures at one point......and at other.....how i couldnt be with a person i dearly love...who resides in each fibre of me.....why she couldnt be real for me....a real person not with me is for practical reasons non-existant and still very existant......
glad to share....peace.....V...
lonely | Reviewer: nisoo | 10/11/09
the actual meaning of this song is :
this man is really lonely ! really lonely to the point that he made up a girl in his mind that cant be real , when he think of her he gets sadder because he cant make her real <-- think of it ! it really makes sense !
Call it what you will... | Reviewer: Jawara | 10/6/09
Can we just agree this is seriously just an astounding work of sonic artwork? I am no huge fan of Slipknot, but I can never stop myself from putting this track on repeat!
It is hard to marry a song's lyrical poignance with it's instrumental dynamic as well as "Vermillion" does... This is what I call a complete song! There is nothing about it to be questioned- nothing where you say to yourself, "Well. It could be better if they did this instead of that."
The chorus alone is so simple, yet monolithically powerful... "I won't let this build up inside of me!"
