just got back into slipknot. only know their first album and this song...gonna try to get into their new stuff. i kinda drifted from them when i entered high school 9 years ago and got into other bands like zeppelin, cream, and other genres newer and old, lots of older stuff, older metal too. recently ive gotten into delta blues, with artists such as charley patton, son house, and robert johnson (without whom slipknot would not exist) and i feel i can be very critical when it comes to music. that being said, i must say, slipknot really is a great band, a great metal band, and their music helps me channel the aggression, anger and frustration i feel from living life. slipknot is good stuff.

aside from that emo is a bloated term used to blanket multiple genres real "emo" it post-grunge, as for Slipknot by definition they are nu-metal, they are a metal band that raps and has a dj, guess what, that makes it nu-metal

The Heretic Anthem is Slipknot's best song, and it's only real competition is Spit it Out. Great lyrics and is an extremely heavy song.
