Oddly, although I remember the song title from when it first came out, I don't recall ever hearing it. I'd assumed it was an alternative title for their song Blessed. The meaning of the words is straightforward: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

There is not a more soothing set of lyrics than those from the song, Benedictus as performed by Simon and Garfunkle. The beauty of the harmony created by Simon and Garfunkel remind you of a prayer to celebrate His caring love for all of mankind. It is a shame that I do not know the Latin meaning of the words, however, it is not necessary when you allow the music to touch your soul. Somewhere there is reverence for the wonder of life!
