Okay, yes, this song may make references to Romeo and Juliet, but that doesn't mean it's ABOUT the play. Romeo and Juliet is the classic take of star-crossed lovers, pain, death, suicide, etc. Which is also what the vast majority of Silverstein songs are about. I highly doubt they wrote this song after reading, the play; more likely they just threw in the references as an art of self-expression.

I think the title "Your Sword Versus My Dagger" means this;
The dagger is an obvious representation of the suicide that unfolds in the play Romeo and Juliet.
The sword is also an obvious symbol, it's a tool used to kill.
Now the versus is what makes it tricky. I think that the title basically says "Will you use your hate to kill me, or will my own grief be my demise?"
That's my thoughts.

i first heard this song off of a friend and i got him to bluetooth it to me finding out this refers to romeo and juliet.....well it makes me like romeo and juliet better hahaha but i think you sword versus my dagger i allways thought that it reffered to skill and speed having the overall win over power referring to the speed of the song and the general beat of it "anybody agree"

Well this is one of my favorite songs. I cant decide between this In Pieces by Linkin Park and Tears Dont Fall. I never really understood the lyrics when he screams. I havent listened to screaming for a long time but finding out its lightly based off romeo and juliet kind of disappoints me. I have been against that play ever sinced I was forced to read it four years in a row.

Beautiful.
I especially love the line "Inevitabley, Verona lives inside of you." as well as the "the people look the same".
It's just beautiful.
I love Silverstein for this.
: )
However the song title throws me off a bit, for the suicides were by a dagger and poison, not a sword..
Or maybe the sword is referring to Tybalt and Mercutio's deaths...?
No idea.
Good song, nonetheless.

The fisrt time I heard this song, I just head it as a fabulous song. After listening to it religiously a few times, I caught the literary referrence to "Romeo And Juliet," which only makes me like the song better. It's amazing to dissect the song and look for the meaning of it, underneath the analogies and metaphors.
