My fiance proposed 3 days before he left for Iraq. (8/17/09) It takes a lot of strength to stay here at the homefront and keep things together. There's a lot of tears but in the end it'll all be worth the wait. Seeing their faces when they come home on R&R after months of being gone, then that first hug when the deployment is FINALLY finished. I respect all women whose spouse/ significant other is fighting for our country. I understand how hard it is for your significant other to be so far away when all you want to do is feel their arms around you. I pray for all the people missing their loved ones, and that you stay strong, our troops need you more than you know! This song has brought me out of a lot of hard days, and it will continue to. I've always admired what it takes for the faithful woman to be left at home while the husband is off at war and I've always despised those who are in it only for the uniform and the "prestige" of it all. I can't stand those "fair weather" folks. My husband was in Iraq in 04/05 with the Army. Before he was deployed his then-girlfriend of 18 months abruptly called their relationship off because she was "afraid to lose him." Then when he was weeks away from safely coming home, the ex had the audacity to start in trying to get back together with him (she was even willing to dump the guy she had gotten with while he was gone!) The "only hitch" in her plan, according to her, was that I had come in the picture... Little did she know that regardless, she had shown her true colors and did not have a chance this side of hell freezing over...
