It is wholly impossible to be in love with something or someone that is posionous for you. I don't think it's always that you have "issues" and are mistaking things for love, it can be this, but often it is that you have chosen to love those aspects of a person that are good. All of this said, it does mean that you may not love yourself enough. This song is a declaration that certain things in a relationship are unacceptable and it addresses the conflict in one's heart one experiences when trying to work your way through to a place where you realize love is not supposed to hurt.
This song makes me very grateful I speak Spanish.

I am from Macedonia but i know spanish and english .... i think that the original lyrics on spanish its way beter then that one on english... great song it remindes me on fall 2005

god, i'm part spanish and part english,
i speak both languages
there is nothing, NADA!, wrong with this song!!
spanish is a different language and they don't use articles such as the, it, and in sentences like we do,
there are seperate words for everyone in spanish,
you dont always put i, you, we in descriptive words, you change that descriptive word to the way your taught to when you learn spanish PROPERLY!
and shitty translation sites are crap and ruin the real translation of a song.
Anyone who uses them should understand this.
its not really that difficult.

This song sucks. That explains everything. You're so very articulate and intelligent. You know whats over-rated? Stupid assfaces coming and trashing a song with few words and not supporting their opinion, and giving no explanation why the song, as they said using minimal verbal skills, "sucks." So kudos to you. You have acheived the maximum accomplishment among the neanderthals; you got on the internet and typed words. Wow.
Well. I love this song. I translated it a couple years ago, but i didn't quite capture the theme of it as this certain translation did, personally this one is much better and more descriptive. I remember first hearing this song...i played it over and over...i could feel it. I was only able to make out a few words but it made no difference in the effect it had on me. I was more understanding of my initial awe when i translated it but, to my pleasure, my love for the song has not changed and I don't think it is only a song it is its own personal emotion which none has yet come to identify.
I feel so many things when i put myself in this song, sometimes angst (not the emo angst but more like the indignant kind), anger, sadness, slight relief...its so amazing. This song is beautiful. (And I'm not really a shakira fan.)

i suggest you learn spanish if you want to understand this song cause if you translate it, it really doesnt make sense..but trust me it makes lots of sense is spanish.. nd screw the person who left a comment under me! i love this song. it gives me goosbumpss :]]
