The reason why artist like Sage Francis are not recognized for their talent is that most people in general society are too ignorant and don't have the mental capabilities to understand and grasp what he is saying, society in a whole it to stupid to realize the genius in his lyrics and put together the story he is trying to tell, that's why people like Lil Jon and other ignorant artist with their repetitive lyrics about bitches, blunts, and fortys make it mainstream. Its not that Sage has any lack of talent, it's that society has lack of intelligence...

I agree that Sage is way underrated and is by far one of the best rappers out there but MC XkWiZiT u do realize that Dr. Dre doesnt write any of his shit? He has like 6 guys write and he just picks what he likes

Sage francis is one among not many who has the lyrical capability to rase the hairs on the back of ur neck not only in context speaking of what he is describing but the way it comes out and is presented. his lyrics along with the beat harmonize. the only two main stream rappers today on mtv that are the same or above sage's lyrical capability are dr dre and eminem. but in saying that main ctream commercial music listeners have only heard about 4% of eminems music. He has so many freestyles and underground songs and mix tape songs out its not funny. i alone have 342 songs with eminem on them. and know the words to 95% of them i mite add.

Sage Francis is the best MC/lyricist today, for god's sakes just read what the man has written below. Amazing. It's a travesty that radio only plays garbage by wack mc's, spitting inane rhymes with absolutely no substance whatsoever, and a true lyrical phenomenon like Sage goes unnoticed by the masses. In a perfect world, Sage Francis, Slug, Talib Kweli, and so many other incredible Mc's of their caliber would be household names who kids look up to and young Mc's try to emulate, instead we have Lil Jon and The Game and Nelly on the radio and MTV getting national exposure and selling millions of records to people who simply don't know that there are other options out there than what Clear Channel and mainstream media feed us. Ah well, for those in the know, no explanation is needed, for those that don't know, no explanation will do. Check out Sage Francis' "Personal Journals" and the new "A Healthy Distrust" LP's if you love hip hop and support artists who do it for the love of the artform. This "Inherited Scars" is my personal favorite song by Sage but, by no means is that an easy choice.
