Awesome song + sidenote | Reviewer: TraceurPunk | 6/17/13

I figure it probably is about a questionably dead relationship, hence "Are we holding on, to the thread/ Of something already dead?" As well as the rest of the chorus and some other lines. Yet I can't help but feel as though there's another message to it, as though the afore mentioned questionably dead relationship isn't the only thing going on there.

Sidenote*
Emo is literally a shortened version of Emotional. If we want to be literal then we could say that all music is emotional, cause it all creates or causes emotions. Even if we're not being literal, Malte wasn't necessarily being 'emo', he was just voicing his and probably others' reasons for loving Rise Against.
Keep on keepin' on~

Great song. I think its about a distance relationship as well and I love how Rise Against seems to speak to you through their lyrics.

On a side note I wish i could write a virus that read people like Malte their comments back to them.

i like. | Reviewer: chris. | 5/31/09

this song is about a relationship. Its about a relationship that is over, or near its end. All in all, it sounds like a difficult situation that did not go the best way, someone got hurt(whether that be from the other person, something outside of it, or both), and one wants things to go back to the way they were while the person who got hurt knows that they shouldn't- they just want to live their lives without hurt.

thats my simple interpretation.

i think the lines
"you talk about the way things were
but I can't hear what you're saying
a time when life was not this hard
blessed by the innocence"

are very significant to the meaning.

sweet | Reviewer: Bobbie | 3/25/08

truly, i really like the intro to this song. It is a good all around song and very strong vocally. if i had to guess i would say he is talking about long distance relationships or any relationship with any distance, metaphorical or literal. But i wouldnt go so far as to say the emo stuff like Malte

it's so fucking incredible, that rise against can make these fantastic textes. They really make you feel, that someone do understand you and that someone is strong. That creates hope!
