Being an emo band and singing emotional songs are two different things. You can't rightfully say that every love song ever created follows emo band ideals. I know this band does have some what of an emo following, but those emos must not listen to the lyrics. A lot of RA's songs have numerous anti-emo statements in them. I think this RA-emo ordeal was fueled when there was a Rolling Stone Magazine quote on the Sufferer album that said "Emo's biggest badasses"

I love Rise Against, they are one of the best bands ive heard. and whats this shit about them being emo. They are a punk band. some people just need to learn the damn difference. man listen to what they are saying. "your still searching for these answers they're not inside your wrist" thats anti-emo.

emo? no, they're not. u don't see them crying when singing, do u? they're meaningful. 2 totally different words, from all aspects. emo is a cult of idiots that love to cut their wrists and to cry a lot, and they support suicidal, that's what makes them a cult of satanists. u can't make emo and meaningful synonyms, it's like calling batman superman.

great song, just amazing. a lot of meanings in it, just like in most of the Rise Against songs. rock on!

rise agaisnt are my favorite, i love them, bcos they r so passionate and EMOTIONAL.

Everyone's so obsessed with putting everything in a box. Stop! Who cares if they're emo or anti-emo - how stupid! They make wicked music that contains strong messages and statements (go vegan!) and that's all that counts :)

These guys aren't emo. The tone of the song feels negative, but it has a very straightforward message. I can say I'm not a big fan of emo or even anti-emo stuff, it seems aimed at people much younger than me, but Rise Against comes up with something to sing about and just does it. Good song.

i can't believe people would call them emo when this song and Survive and many others all have such anti-suicide messages. people can be stupid sometimes
