well chase this band rocks i agree but u r a asshole if emo ppl r emo is cause of ppl like u instead of helping u criticize not so smart cause one day u will have problems and well u will start been emo u ll see and rise against is punk. emo music just means that it makes feel emotional do u see something in that word well emo-tional do u see emo do u undersatnd. this is a great band and for the other assholes that dont like this band why the hell do u listen to it or why do u look 4 the lyrics damn u r stupid

If its a great song, why do you care what people label it. I don't give a shit if a song is emo or not, if its good i'll listen to it. You don't need to write a paragraph denying that a song is emo when its just some little annoying kid who thinks anything he does'nt like is emo

God, kill that damn word, its so easy to say one thing is another these days just because it is "cool" it causes so much confusion and makes no sense what so ever.

On to the song, I also don't care what genre people call it, hell, i've been inspired by rap, even some rnb, to me its in the lyrics, if you want to say something and want people to listen you should make the music, if governments push you under that's gonna get you more recognition and respect. These days rap and rnb is all about bigging your self up, talking a retarded way and thinking you're a god on earth. Emo and hard core rock is all about how you're life sucks so much and pop is generally awfully rhymed but sounds good. Rise against, the streets, eminem have shown you can use any genre to spread your word - your true word because lyrics to me win out on a classic tune.

Then you get bands like sigur ros (victory rose -> english), who are amazing at keeping there own language and not selling out to America and Europe (they speak Icelandic btw). I don't know if their lyrics are so good but their songs are amazing and they are strong to stay to their roots, they've got a song video about global warming as well.

I just wish there were more people like this willing to spread their opinion, i think people know that's going down the hard route that's why they stay with repetitive music ... boring music.

I do not consider this emo at all.. its called rock/alternative people. To me legit emo is screamo depression. I dont find this depressing. I listen to mostly rock and the lyrics can be depressing but i dont consider it emo. Emo is punk rock. this is alternative rock. thats how i roll. peace

I agree wit Dylan this band is PUNK ROCK NOT EMO!!! Rise Against plays fast and hard and Tim has that unusual voice that can't be matched. Personally, I think they're like blink 182. Most of the time both play fast hard and just don't care what today's society thinks. They can have slow songs too, though. I'm not a hardcore fan of blink 182 but i kno they have "I Miss You." Rise Against has "Roadside." Slow, yes, but still amazing songs

emo or not, why should it matter? i mean, let's say it is emo. what makes it any more different than if it wasn't? it's still an awesome song, and i'm pretty sure that we're going to live life just the same if it was emo as we would if it wasn't?

to Adam. Yes it does help to appereciate music by playing it. ive been playing drums for a while and i use it all the time to deal with some kind of emotion, but music can help anyone even if they can't play. damn good lyrics. rock on RA.

guys who are so adamantly saying not emo, are u even reading what is being written???

emo does not necessarily mean depressed suicidial stuff (ie MCR) it can and does mean anything that gives deep emotion, whether its happy, sad, angry, or whatever, so in this sense, almost every song is emo in some way, but im getting off track here.

I agree with the folks who say it is emo in the broad sense of the word, but also agree that its not emo in the way defined by bands like MCR.

This band ain't emo. This band don't want to get you depressed. This band tells you the truth about our world and about the environment so you can do something about it. Emo bands just will make you sad.

give it all sick song, deep meaning... its different for everyone else but thats what music is. also this song is sick for warmups to basketball games... its like a instant high... props to tim mcllrath he has a insane voice...

i think this is an awesome song. i, in a sense, consider it emo, but i know that mainly, like someone else here said, that they're singing about the enviroment and human rights, things like that, although i see why people consider it as a emotional song/band. rise against is one of my favorite bands mainly cuz' of the lyrics

the song is emo but not how people think of emo people think of emo as sad and depressed a song could be happy and still be emo. emo stands for emotional not sad or depressed or any of that crap if the song makes u happy sad mad or any emotion its emo.This is a truly kickass song this is an awesome band

this song is a pretty inspirational song, it mean many things to many people, and the whole "emo" term is bullshit, and used out of context and understanding way to often, ignorant people see emo as an angry depressed look, its not unless you make it that way. "emo" is short for emotional, if "OH Danny BOy" makes you emotional that might as well be called emo. But back to the song, i interpret it as a person finding their passion and giving it all they have to give, hence "we give it all" and "the reason why i sing"
