the lyrics grabbed me . especially about dont wanna do it like my daddy. Dont we all have some things our fathers have done that we hate? I do, I guess thats all that matters. The chilis have conquered all there is to conquer in the world of music, going from songs like Dosed, I could Die for you, and This is the place, to songs like Higher Ground, Parallel Universe, By The Way, Around The World. It is amazing the way they have gone into many different angles of rock and included many elements of funk and quite poetic lyrical genius.

The red hot chilli peppers are one of those bands that produce songs like this on a regular basis....all of their songs are the best song they've ever done...it just depends on which one you happen to be listening to.

I have to say lyrically this is probably the best song by RHCP there is. Lyrically is so personal and emotional there is a real connection between the music and the musicians that we are missing in the pop music of today.

I will have to agree with dana. RHCP really has matured. I mean Slow Cheetah on Stadium Arcadium is a long way from Higher Ground and the rest of their first hits. they're god damn poetic and it really did progress that way slowly.
