Packed of emotion...yes, well said.
But for me the song isn't beautiful just because he is suffering. It's beautiful because Anthony - yes, this strong, crazy, shellow, never regreting Anthony - decides to change for a woman he loves. He is not angry, he doesn't say "how could I ever kiss that b***h" like in No Chump Love Sucker. He just regrets everything he did and he says that he would do everything just to come back to her. Maybe this song isn't one of the greatest ever written but it shows how deeply can Anthony love

"This song is just a twisted web of emotion. Confusion, fear, regret, grief...Too many too name. It really does a great job of taking your mind and slapping it right there in Anthony's situation. Close your eyes and concentrate on the lyrics, and you'll see.
I'm not sure if I can begin to explain how much I love this song....It simply has so much emotion packed into such a simple musical concept. The Guitar solo has more feeling than anything I've ever heard before. I can't get enough of this. Flea's Bass part is something I love as well. It's so simple, but it has a touch of dissonance to create the perfect amount of energy to keep the song interesting. The lyrics are what I noticed last in this song, but they definitely don't fall short of anything Flea or John do....This song is obviously about some sort of failing relationship, a painful break-up. A relationship that he just doesn't want to give up on...It's worth saving even though it seems almost hopeless. It seems like this relationship was one in which he was planning a bright future for. He had everything he needed to live happily, but things changed one day.. She wasn't giving him the same love or affection that she used to, and it's killing him inside."
this really is simply a great summary of the song. well done man

...."Hey" This song sorta takes ya on a journey. Like through a city on a rainy day feeling. Like if u think about it it's eryodic. It's something tht just pops out at ya & gives you a calming feeling wen things are bad. It's like your at the beach on a rainy day almost. But, in a good way....But, yh it's sorta about a realationship gone amok. Simply put. One of the best RHCP song off ov Stadium Arcadium & of all time.

the lyrics succinctly speak of a relationship slowly falling apart - often the most painful type of breakup because of its drawn-out up&down day-after-day nature. the guitar solo speaks volumes to me. i've never heard that style guitar be so emotion-packed before in my life. it compliments the theme of the lyrics by worlessly adding that extra effect that really draws the song together. absolutely genius.
