The London Critic! yea that guys right | Reviewer: kutcha | 6/5/06 yea that guy is right, a lot of dani california and mary jane's last dance is the same. but the chorus is entirely different and many of the lyrics are different. the only thing that is the same is the basic premises of the song. still, im surprised theres no harmonica in the RHCP version. the bass line is practically the same, the only thing the RHCP did was speed it up a lot and add their own funk. but you have to give them credit-look at zeppelin. they did a lot of covers but added their own awesomeness and thats exactly what the chili peppers did here.
