The Way I Feel | Reviewer: Julia | 4/26/08
This song has meaning.
Getting born in the state of Mississippi
Papa was a copper and mama was a hippie (her parents were unmatched, and they didn't want a child)
In Alabama she would swing a hammer (she worked hard)
Price you gotta pay when you break the panorama
She never knew that there was anything more than poor (she lived her life being very poor)
What in the world does your company take me for
(what do your friends think of her?
Black bandana, sweet Louisiana (I THINK it is symbolizing a gang)
robbin' on a bank in the state of Indiana (the gang robbed a bank in Indiana)
She's a runner, rebel and a stunner (like Kissin' Kate Barlow, Holes)
On her merry way sayin; baby whatcha gonna (Can you stop her?)
Lookin' down the barrel of a hot metal .45
Just another way to survive (I think she got shot)
California rest in peace (she has died, clearly her last name is California)
Simultaneous release (it all happened at once, or the Peppers just needed somthing to rhyme)
California show your teeth (be strong)
She's my priestess, I'm your priest (the people were in love)
YEAH, YEAH (YEAH, YEAH)
She's a lover baby and a fighter (it means what it says)
Shoulda seen it coming when it got a little brighter (it was obvious what was to happen, with a copper father and a hippie mother)
With a name like Dani California (her name)
The day was gonna come when I was gonna mourn ya (he knew it would happen)
A little loaded, she was stealing another breath
I love my baby to death (she was beautiful, and he loved her)
Who knew the other side of you? (she had a secret side)
Who knew that others died to prove (umm idk)
Too true to say good bye to you (he couldn't bear to attened the funeral)
Too true to say say say... (its hard to accept it)
Push the fader gifted animator (she was good at what she did with her life)
One for the now and eleven for the later (she took one and saved the rest, and I believe it is reffering to bullets)
Never made it up to Minnesota (she was heading for Minnesota, but she never made it)
North Dakota man was a gunning for the quota (a man from North Dakota shot her)
Down in the badlands she was savin' the best for last (she was thinking of somthing important)
It only hurts when I laugh (he is remembering the secret she told him)
Gone too fast... (she was too young to die)
and i believe I have covered the last lines. Like I said, the song has meaning. A young lady with no plan for life has gotten in a bad situation. And the situation involved a gun. She got shot and her lover is mourning her.
I took some time to write out this review.

Miss D. California... | Reviewer: Blarg =) | 2/28/08
I'd love to meet this California person they keep talking about. yeee. anyway.
Red hot chillis are, in my opinion, one of the best bands out there. They've kept this awesome for such a long time, which a LOT of bands fail miserably at
I mean look at that band Airbourne
one song- "Too much too young too fast"
or some random name like that
the sound's a fucking ACDC rip off
THAT'S copying music, people.
besides, they'll be forgotten in a month or so so it's all good =)
yeah, so to be honest
u should be clapping these extremely talented people on the back for managing not to copy someone else's sound
and for making practically every song sound different
if you got something against it, you go do better
Pwned, n00bs. ^^
P.S someone below me said to listed to Panic! or FOB if u wanted repetitive music...
so, SO true. =D
xx
OMG | Reviewer: jess | 2/25/08
look this is an excelent piece of musical art people and from a musicians point of view id have to agree with an earlier review there so many limited things you can do with rock now a days that there is no such thing as "stealing chords" i mean lets get real here chords are jus that and how you arrange them in a song is compleatly up to you that dosent mean you have stole them
Chili stick to the same formula??? | Reviewer: RHCPGRiff | 1/14/08
Of course they dont. Have people been listening to their stuff over the last 24 years with their head stuck in a bloody bucket? Go back to their 1984-85 albums. completely off the wall. Mother's Milk - Bonkers fast rock. Blood sugar - complex guitar parts aswell as slower anthems (sir psycho sexy, bloodysugarsexmagic, under the bridge, and i could have lied as good examples), californiacation - scar tissue, parrallel universe, otherside, i like dirt - all songs ur not going to hear a similarity to on any other record. By the way. Take venice queen, cant stop, zephyr song, by the way. Its unique stuff that if anyone tried to emulate, it would stand out like a sore thumb. You cant seriously say, a rap/funk song like cant stop is similar to their rest. Fair enough its in the funk rock catagory. but thats because their a funk rock band. Your not gonna hear snow patrol come out with a funk rock or rap song for example because thats not what they're about. Dont remember the last time i heard someone moan about velvet revolver not straying from the rock roots to jam out a reagge number (and for the record check out some of the B sides to the chilis songs... theres even a pure reggae track to be found).
As for Stadium... songs are closer together in terms of mood, but to say they're just pumping out the same stuff when on the same cd you have Turn It Again (funk rock), and Tell Me again (funk pop), going to Desecration Smile (Acousic Based). To say they follow the same genre is a massive overstatement. More than any other band, they stray from the norm' and dable in other forulas and styles.
Mmm... think i made a point anyway. Lol... and ye... Dani California is awsome... and maybe does sound a little like the song they were alledged to have copied (although i listened to a frusciante interview where he said he was trying hard not to have it sound like sweet home alabama)... doesnt really sound liek he ripped it from some unknown.
Awesome | Reviewer: TheSkaPunk | 1/9/08
I'm not really a huge fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers...
But, this is one of the best songs in whole damn world, and I don't care who knows.
Btw, Rock Band Freak is a dick who needs a life.
Btw2, I plan to kick his ass on Rock Band on either vocals or guitar. ^^

Mary Jane's Last Dance / Dani California | Reviewer: christopher.kiertz@uconn.edu | 12/7/07
Chords are similar in the verses. A minor, G major, D major in Last Dance...A minor, G major, D minor in Dani. After that it's different as far as the chorus. Mary Jane doesnt even have a bridge, Dani does. And let's be honest here, it's rock n roll, there's no such thing as stealing chords. There's a very limited amount of things you could do in rock and if you go outside that no one will listen to you and it's no longer rock, it's jazz.
top song | Reviewer: indi | 11/17/07
this is one of there best songs they have and there best film clip i love it changing out fits and stuff but yeh there lyrics are a bit different i dont hear that many simularties in there songs it is just they dont move there style around like different bands a song is rap a song is pop a song is rock a song is heavy metal where most of rhcps songs are hard rock rock and metal buy most bands chang them up i want to hear a death metal song from them with just heaps of bass and electric and drum solos its not funny id love it
