I lean towards the heroin idea that in fact his love for the city is actual his addiction to heroin and that in the end his love is replaced by his obssesion and therefore the love is forgotten. it sounds desperssing but the rhcp make this song perfectly as we can all relate to it in some way. Living in manhatan as I do I do feel alone as I am surrounded by millions of people and at times I feel like the only thing that I know is the city itself. This is just my opinion pls nobody hassle me for my opinions but always look at things from different perspectives.
