A fun and helpful song... | Reviewer: Chrissy | 2/20/07

In fifth grade, we did this project on the states. We all had to learn this song. (Even though sometimes I forget some words...) It was really helpful, and it is a lot of fun to sing. Teachers, this is a really good song to help your kids learn the states. This song ROCKS!! Thanks, Ms. Chinn!!

I first leasrned this song in 3rd grade and have used it in most of my classes where I have had to know the 50 states. I even had my music teacher make a copy of the song on a casset, which I still have. This is one song that I will sing forever!

Been stuck in my head for the last 7 years! | Reviewer: Conrad | 2/11/07

I learned this song in 3rd grade and though I'm in 10th grade now I've had it stuck in my head every since! The frustrating part was that I could never remember the song past "Indiana" (though I did remember the "O-hi-o!"). So today after about seven years I finally heard that song again. Wow! Today I just searched for it on Google and clicked a link and it started playing and I was like, "Oh my God, that's the song! I remember it!"

great song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/21/06

I learned this song in 3rd grade and have always loved being able to know the states in alphabetical order. I am 34 years old and I am now teaching the song to my 3 year old son and coordinating the song with a map. I hope he gets as much from knowing it as I did. Thanks Ms. Novitsky for teaching it to us all those years ago!

Wrong Ray Charles!!!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/27/06

The Ray Charles who wrote this song is NOT the R&B singer. Instead it was the fellow who was for years associated with Perry Como!

Memories | Reviewer: Nicole | 10/27/06

I was taught this song in first grade.
We were taught early in New Jersey, I found out, because most of my friends who live in Florida (where I moved) learned it in fifth or sixth grade.
I felt accomplished that I learned not only how to recite them alphabetically, but that I knew how to spell them.
I still remember and always plan on it :)

There are 2 Ray Charleses | Reviewer: Ray Charles | 10/26/06

I am very flattered that everyone seems to like my song, but they're giving credit to the wrong Ray Charles for having written it. There are, or were, 2 Ray Charleses. I am the one who had the Ray Charles Singers with Perry Como for 35 years and I wrote the song as the theme for our "Salute the States" feature of our TV show. If you see my credit anyplace, it reads "the other Ray Charles".
Incidentally, I sing the theme on "Three's Company".
