think of it this way | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/3/07

Think of it this way, From what I have herd and what I hav read from all these entrys It all sounds pretty close to the same. I have been studying germen for 12 years now so its kinda my second langege, So basicaly my point is YOUR ALL IDIOTS CAUSE YOUR ARGUING FOR NOTHING. pay close attencion to what your all saying and and you will see my point. I dont usually wright on these things but I had to cause of the intelagince level has droped here. And it is Du hast and not du hasst. Mind you thay are pretty close meanning when in the song.

Umm...for the english version they didn't translate it, they just changed the words alot.
Look it up on wikipedia. Or just go and actually listen to the real english version of this song.

Misenterpretation | Reviewer: Jeff | 5/17/07

Ok, as someone who knows german I can tell you that 'du hast mich' does NOT mean 'you hate me'. 'hast' is a homophone with 'hasst' and both have the same pronunciation. 'hast' means 'have' and 'hasst' means 'hate'. Though the lyrics don't mean much in english because of the word order in german, what it's actually saying is 'you have asked me, and I have not replied'.

Du Hast english version. | Reviewer: boi | 5/15/07

Why the hell are you guys worrying whether its Du hast Mich or its Du hasst Mich. Heres three wacky notions:
1. Ask Rammstein which one it is.
2. Listen to it in orgianl German.
3. SHUT THE FUCK UP about it.... of all the things in the world to be argueing about.

Du hast- german translations | Reviewer: carina | 5/10/07

Du hast means you have
BUT
Du hasst means you hate.
And here it means you have.
Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nein gesagt
means
You have asked me and I said no.

My entry is correct, I'm sure. I live in Austria and the my mother tounge is german.

Du hast | Reviewer: Lucy | 5/9/07

For the guy who said he dedicated this song to his girlfriend because it said you have me... its not a single statement... it's part of the phrase "you have asked me and i said nothing"... so you dedicated a song to her... that says you won't stay with her forever.. no offense...

i love their music "ich will" is a great song2 the music video rocks. to all their songs esp amerika. im 50 % german so i like this stuff woohoo thats all i have to say

not translations | Reviewer: Randi | 5/8/07

in the english version of "Du hast" NOT the translation,(the version of the song the band made into english), they say "you hate me" and instead of "you have asked me" and "and I didnt say anything" they say "you hate me to say" and "and I did not obey". The rest of the lyrics
on this page are correct, "Will you until death does sevre..." and "Will you 'till death be her rider" Once again, these are the lyrics for the english version of the song, NOT THE TRANSLATION ITSELF.

about du hast | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/1/07

ok i'm german-american (bi-lingual) and i should know. hast (with one s) means to have BUT rammstein is known to be playing with the meaning of words so they want it so seem like "du hasst" (u hate) which is why in the english version they sing "u hate me". since they add "gefragt" it then means "u asked me".
alright i hope ppl stop wondering about it know...

and just by the way: rammstein meant that the girl asked him to marry her but he didn't answer because he doesn't want to be upright to her forever.
