Cheerios, angry people not from the hood | Reviewer: jon westerby | 8/22/09 personally i'm not black and i'm not from the hood. I don't own a ''piece'' and i have no desire to shoot anybody. However this track (although a cover) has all the trademarks of ratm's greatest songs. An awesome heavy groove with ferociously passionate lyrics spat out with precision venom. Ratm were like the sex pistols of the 90's in terms of the impact and influence they had but with greater focus, longevity and far more musical ability. Their music was never about anything as transient as teengae angst and the older generation although they unintentionally tapped into that market. Ratm were true political activists who unlike other bands that wear politics like a t shirt and contribute only with their wallets deeply believed in the causes they supported and took militant action to prove it. wether you agree with their politics or not they were sincere. They were also massively influential fusing led zeppelin-esque grooves with thrash ferocity and hip hop beats and vocals. A truly great band that influenced countless bands that followed in the post grunge nu metal era.
