i kind of feel this way at the moment. i love it how this song can relate to both being let down by other people, but also that inner let down that you feel when youve disappointed yourself; that soul destroying hurt that originates from noone but yourself. failure to do something you thought you could do. radiohead is the only band i have ever found that can express the entirity of emotion in a way that sounds so simple, but fully grasps the complexities of it all.

It is not depressing. It is simly so very sad... When i listen to LET DOWN i think about the moments in my life that made me hurt, that made me cry... i dedicate this song to my beloved friend chris....
Radiohead Let Down | Reviewer: Ivy | 12/10/07
This song describes how I feel exactly.
This is one of those songs you listen to when you think no one understands what you're going through..and that kind of song is rare to find.
I have been let down by so many people that in the end, I just want to be alone. It feels good that a band like Radiohead can understand that.

Obviously, Let Down | Reviewer: Mary | 9/3/07
I agree, this song is about being let down. clearly. but i don't think it's depressing. At all. i think it's about being let down to the point of blackness and then, at the last moment, being saved. whether by yourself (inward) or somebody else (outward), you're saved. you "grew wings", so to speak

this is definitely in my top ten favorite radiohead songs. the way he sings "one day, i am gonna grow wings" just gives me chills. i agree with both raha and david-- this is the ultimate let down.

i feel exacly says in this song i have done a remix of this with a video on you tube i took everyones thoughts and feeling and acted it out with a few people on it, its the feeling of being rejected no one wants to fucking listen to your side you feel alone cold no strength to tackle people to listen from your side!!!

i love how you started that deep comment off with "dude, this song is sooo about..."
made me think of myself
yeah i agree with you raha. it's that feeling when you're just let the fuck down, cause the wave you've been riding just crashed shore and you don't really know what to do, so you're just "hanging around". who cares what happens next. maybe some day you'll grow new wings and get over it but that's "some day". right now you're just crushed, and like the bug in the ground people notice your pain but just pass you by. maybe that's a crack on western society. it reminds me of a quote by oscar wilde. he said, "a little sincerity is a dangerous thing, and a great deal of it is absolutely fatal." i know how he feels.
it's hard to be sincere these days because no one knows how to react to it. caring is creepy these days. people get freaked out by sincerity.
let down and hangin around.... | Reviewer: raha | 6/25/07
dude...this song is sooo about just being ultimately let down, finally off, just falling off of something that gave you the sensation of being at the top of existence....that's the let down. He describes the phases of how the mind uses various defense mechanisms (proverbs or wishing/hoping for wings) or other consolations (chemical reactions), then he lapses back into shock (hysterical, floor collapsing).
It's about the ultimate let down. In extremely vivid, beautiful detail he describes the various phases of the various sensation that are so powerful when you're truly "let down".

5th line, its 'clinging onto bottles'
not 'clinging onto proverbs'. Thought I'd throw that out there.
