bunker | Reviewer: baray | 7/30/2008

this word is so catchin, like another song titled idiotique, he sing it "whos in bunker.."
he is really wanna be idiot. and wanna sitting in a safest place from the tsunami, the place is his "simple salvatore", is a "bunker".

White Elephants | Reviewer: Julia | 4/17/2008

I was studying and listening to Radiohead and all the sudden I heard the phrase "white elephants" and my ears perked and once I looked over the lyrics that this entire song is related to Hemingway's short story: "Hills Like White Elephants" - I suggest anyone who likes this song to read, it makes perfect sense.

These lyrics are the thoughts of the man in the story, the reader cannot know his thoughts specifically because Hemingway presents most of the story as a dialogue, and so the man's thoughts must be inferred from what he is saying, which is clearly what Radiohead is doing here.

Spectacular.

Have you ever read Ernest Hemingway's short literary piece "White Elephants"? You should it's about abortion and Thom is clearly making a literary allusion to the piece. Read the story and listen to the song..."I won't let this happen to my children..."

I Will | Reviewer: Tristan | 1/11/2008

It's so short, but I really feel this is Radiohead's most powerful song ever recorded, outdoing Street Spirit, No Surprises, Motion Picture Soundtrack, and the brand new Videotape all at once. I wouldn't call it sweet, however, as its about the 1991 bombing of the Amiriyah shelter in Iraq, where 408 women and children were boiled to death after two laser-guided American missiles broke water pipes in the bunker above them. Thom has said that this is the angriest song he has ever written, as his fury about the brutality of American war-making is most fully realized on this track off of (surprise) Hail to the Thief.

to Golo Brad | Reviewer: Ryan | 12/13/2007

In my opinion, the aim of the whole "white elephants" "sitting ducks" part was to show that the author is in the side of the innocent, easy targets. Just thought you should know.

Great song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/7/2007

Absolutely fantastic. A short piece by Radiohead capturing a great moody atmosphere. I love it! So should you!

lullaby for our first born | Reviewer: Golo Brad | 11/2/2007

I'm looking forward to the arrival of our first child, in about 4 months time, so I can sing him or her this song to help him or her drift off with images of white elephants and sitting ducks. So sweet. Never thought I'd call a Radiohead song sweet!! Don't flame me please. This song makes me cry at the moment.

Love Radiohead. Long may they live.

I Won't | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/11/2007

....ever say a bad word about this. Stunningly simplistic, classic Radiohead here. Thom York's ever creepy voice sounds perfect in this eery reminder of how ignorance isn't always bliss. Fantastic stuff.
