The Reviews about High and Dry (page 1/ 8)
------ performed by Radiohead

that's maybe about | Reviewer: momo | 11/5/09

I had a lovestory
we both felt a lot, but..I knew, he's superficial, once thought he had to go his own way and left me..

after going around in stupide useless affairs to please his ego and vanity, felt desperatly lonely inside, and missed what we had, so he came back we tried again, again he went away and told me, "I always come back to you when I need to feel something strong and real, when I'm almost forgetting how it does feel like, but it's part of the game, I cannot bear it too long at once, that's it" ..the story goes so on, we are more than happy to find each other every time, but when he's not there I have other loves, don't wait ..if he comes or not..

some people are slaves of their own vanity and emptiness inside, miss sometimes the rest

amazing song if you understand it

my perspective | Reviewer: christine gordon | 10/22/09

From my perspective, its about a typical boy who was an invincible dare devil, dirtbiking, has the world beneath his wings. Perhaps even cocky, just itching for people to notice him, to be the centre of attention. Breaking a mirror- common symbolization of bad luck, an accident occurs while dirtbiking leaving him paralyzed from the waist down, thus disabled to move, feel, have sex, feel love again.. All these things, the best things in life to fall to the ground- bc this boy acted as someone he wasn't. Sometimes it takes a preventable accident such as this to realize how lonely one can become when that's exactly how they don't want to me. Maybe a band member knew of a disaster such as this. Be yourself!!

age? | Reviewer: eric | 9/19/09

It seems like this song is about losing your youth and the chagrin involved with that process, breaking mirrors because you can't stand your aging and how it's shaped you: "all your insides fall to pieces you just sit there wishing you could still make love." The bridge especially leads me to think this is what the underlying theme is: "It's the best thing that you ever had," etc.
Also in the music video it shows Yorke going into a bathroom and smiling at the boy who walks in.
Just a thought though.

Drugs? | Reviewer: Anthym | 9/16/09

Um, I supposed that's about drugs, I'm not much into them, but I know this stuff because of alcohol. And it suits here as well.. But it could be about some girlfriend he lost, she could have left him dry (she left him) and "highness" could be some kinda love. really catchy phrase, but interesting as well. But I have another opinion: It could be about sex too! It suits perfectly!!! What do you mean, guys?

gave me a heart break | Reviewer: katushi | 8/25/09

I was supposed to sing this song to a girl whom i've fallen for because this was our favorite...we both liked each other...dated for a month....but then she left me high and dry....oh well..and I have a feeling she's getting married....I got hurt...yup...its the best thing i've ever had

Amazing. | Reviewer: theguy | 8/22/09

I think this is THE perfect example of how Radiohead is as reveloutionry, ingenious, perfect as any band out there..

Like most songs, this can mean whatever you believe it to mean.. To Thom it's probably about how he sees himself.
The first verse (to me) quite clearly shows how he sees himself from a third person view; arrogant, naive maybe?
The second shows how he, again as a third person, imagines what will be the outcome of his ignorance of the world.
The interval carries that on, and as for the chorus... Well, doesn't it really speak for itself?

I could be right, wrong, or the cheesiest, dumbest guy on earth.
Any way, this song is amazing.

i think | Reviewer: shmuel | 7/3/09

Reach those who are high and dry. | Reviewer: guillermo | 5/6/09

I felt abandoned like, like that and no matter the reason, if i was guilty or not, the only thing that made me return to the ground from my personal hell was that someone, even a stranger, reached me, saluted me, noticed me... don't let me high, don't let me dry.

awookiwooki | Reviewer: spacemanspiff | 5/7/09

everyones opinion is valid my personal opinion is that this song is about people in general and how we will do just about anything to have attention, fame, company and a lasting reputation so much that we can become corrupt and something we truly arent these lustful and self-centered desires blind us and we utterly forget that that is truly important (friends and family) and when our fame, money, and material items are gone so are those people we once thought were and called "friends" so we are left "screaming out" and sometimes its to late to make amends and those who truly cared are gone (the best thing you've had has gone away)
