I've never worked at night but somehow I know exactly what these lyrics are saying--by reading them I feel I know something about working the night shift. There's monotony in this song, and loneliness, irritation, unnatural wakefulness at times when most people sleep. powerful.

I see today with a newsprint fray
My night is colored headache grey
Don't wake me with so much. The
Ocean machine is set to 9
I'll squeeze into heaven and valentine
My bed is pulling me,
Gravity , Daysleeper...

That part of the song ALWAYS gets me.

It's not enough to read the lyrics... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/22/07

You have to hear the song and relate. The music behind the lyrics, how the music dances and sways behind the words, puts you into the shoes of the person who works in that recieving department. It is truly a song for those who never see the sun and envy the ones who do.
