the cake sentence | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/27/09

Marie Antoinette wasn't very intelligent, she didn't know the real situation of the people in the "comunas" so I think that's why people along the time atributte her that sentence but I think that is most related to show the situation a the difference between the royalty a the people of Paris, and the indifference for that hard condition

I just wanted to correct a common mistake made with the line,"let'em eat cake" someone else above also said what i'm about to "marie antionette NEVER said "let'em eat cake" i always thought she did but after much discussion and reading about her and the famous line ...she did NOT say it!

Freddie Mercury (the guy who wrote this song) said and I quote, "People are used to hard rock, energy music from Queen, yet with this single you almost expect Noel Coward to sing it. It's one of those bowler hat, black suspender belt numbers – not that Coward would wear that. It's about a high class girl. I'm trying to say that classy people can be whores as well. That's what the song is about, though I'd prefer people to put their interpretation upon it – to read into it what they like."

so the song is about whores people! thats what he said himself! is not about actresses, divas, marie antoinette, or anything else like that. it is about classy whores!
dont beleive me?

Don't Forget The Lyrics!!! | Reviewer: LuvMusic | 1/28/09

I understand that there's a lot of back and forth ranting about the error in the lyrics,... but, seriously now!... What happens if you go on a show like "Don't Forget The Lyrics" and this happens to be the million dollar song?... And, you have to recall the line "Met a man from China, went down to Asia Minor". But, instead you say, "Met a man from China, went down to Geisha Minah".... I guarantee you, you'd be kicking yourself in the butt for that one!... :(

what lyrics are really about | Reviewer: Oh | 12/28/08

The truth is these lyrics are about the TV just like every other song produced by major labels in the last forty years. The laser-beam is a dead giveaway. Closed captioning is the built in remedy
made more recently commonplace, though closed captioned music programs (a precursor of A.I.)
would have been available to certain elite even before this song was written.

seriously? | Reviewer: sigh | 12/24/08

marie antoinette never said let them eat cake, it's a popular myth. European history teacher told us. And it was most likely referring to a different kind of flour, one that was way finer.
Also, she was beheaded because of years of living in disgusting extravangance and self-indulgent opulence while peasants throughout France were oppressed and starving to death. Not a comment that didn't exist.

A french man restore justice | Reviewer: Martin the frog | 10/28/08

Of course the lyrics are "Marie-Antoinette" and not "Marie-Antoanete" as it is said by some ignorant fool : it is french. And the famous story about this queen is that one day, just before the French revolution, as one of his adviser told her "People are hungry, they're longing for bread", she answered "Well just let them have some brioche", that is to say a french cake. This kind of clever remark cost her her head...

who posted that? | Reviewer: tatqa | 10/15/08

ok who said the stupid coment about mary antouanett you'd better learn french dumb ass its written marie antoinette duh and the lyrics are fine ok so i have a question about you if you say that you should find out the lyrics yourself what are you doing in a lyrics page?

almost correct | Reviewer: wildwithwords | 10/14/08

The lyrics here are ALMOST right... apart from "she never kept the same ADDRESS"...... and "Went down to ASIA MINOR" ( ie India ). Its a geography thing.
Having said that I must agree that I've sung these same lyrics in various incorrect forms over the years. Its all good.

How dumb could you get? | Reviewer: Adrianna | 9/10/08

Guys, seriously, come on. You really don't have to rant about getting the wrong lyrics! It's not that big of a deal, are you so stupid that you can't figure it out yourself? I mean no freaking duh, those obviously aren't the lyrics, and I agree with the people who are saying back off. How would you keep up with your own site? I agree with Anonymous, I have come up with far worse attempting to sing Queen. Yeesh....

... | Reviewer: mimi | 9/6/08

This song is about a popular actress of the time (whose name I have forgotten, sorry) who was known for being a diva who Freddy COMPARES to Marie Antoinette.
I love this song.

Chap r u dumb? | Reviewer: Yanko Georgiev | 4/20/08

Oh come on...'Find me on the internet'???!?

It's a shame that the first site that shows up in google presents false lyrics...Man, it's easy to hear that Freddy sings 'Mary Antoanete' not find me on the internet...shame

"find me on the internet" | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/3/08

they didnt have the internet back then for one thing. the correct lyrics would be "just like marie antoinette". she is most quoted for saying "let them eat cake" as she was referring to the poor when she was drunk one night.

Jenny | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/29/08

Yes, there is nothing in the song in the original Killer Queen song, to suggest the internet should be used in the lyrics provided here, but I tell you one thing...I've come out with far worse when I've tried to sing along to other queen songs or any song come to that!!:-).
