The Reviews about Welcome to the machine (page 4/ 5)
------ performed by Pink Floyd

Amazing | Reviewer: Jake | 6/26/07

This song...Makes me think of growing up. And I'm still a kid. I kind of want it to stay that way, so I don't have to worry about this twisted world. People and industries will do and or say anything to get whatever they want. Why? Noone knows really, everyone just wants everything they can get. This world, this reality it's a machine, it has no feeling anymore... It makes me want to watch the Matrix kind of lol. I love this song though.

Crazy song | Reviewer: Niklas | 5/30/07

a Alexandra montioned, this is the best acid song ever made. Though, that is not why it was made. This song is, for me, about groving up and becoming a part of the system. The machine symbolices the society and you are a piece, only made to keep the machine spinning. Your dreams are forged by the men of power while you are young so that you will dream about geting big, classy, rich and famous. They do that because they know it will make you spin smoother as soon as you grow up and become a part of the system.

:D | Reviewer: Russian | 4/12/07

for those guys who say that lyrics don't make sence: you are just to stupid to understand them! this song is about THE SYSTEM. i mean a BIG f*ckup that we are living in now. our god damn materialistic society, populism, propaganda, mind control, egocentrism whatever, you name it

All encompassing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/7/07

The dream he speaks of is the continuation of nothing. You work and fill in time, dreaming one day to do great things; those great things are based on something you know nothing of and exists only in a disillusioned and unoriginal world. That is the machine to me. Our inability for original thought. I'm not sure what perpetuates it, but it's there.

You must understand | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/28/07

I'm sorry to say, but these lyrics hold a very valuable message. What pink floyd is saying, welcome to the new generation, "the machine" is a metaphor for society and the gov't as a whole, the second verse is telling you, that you are manipulated, yes you have dreamed big while you were growing up, but then you come to realize that they were just dreams, welcome to the machine.

Perfect | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/28/07

This song is amazing, it's completely perfect and the lyrics along with the music get the point across. The world today could use more bands like Pink Floyd

Simply amazing | Reviewer: Christoph | 1/31/07

Simply amazing song, indeed. Although it may be agreed that the lyrics may be substandard is comparison to other pieces, this song is very well put together. Chills run down my spine every repetition of "welcome my son/welcome, to the machine"

wow... | Reviewer: Sarah | 5/18/06

Wow. This song kinda made me think. I mean, once you're an adult, you're on your own... I dont wanna grow up =*(

damn i love this song | Reviewer: Alexandra | 5/3/06

The best acid song ever, if anyone is still into that crazy drug.
Besides that, it is still so completely innovative, unique, insane, and amazing.

As great today as it was 30 years ago. | Reviewer: Paul | 11/21/05

As is applicable today as it was in 1975 when it was written, this is about and managers controlling the band, which contributed to Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett's mental collapse. The world around him was like a machine... you really need to delve into the lyrics and how they fit into the composition of the song: the fans, the group, the record industry. They told him what to do when & how to do it so they would become successful. As with any Floyd lyrics, context is everything. The music swirling around, the machine sounds & the orchestration all blends into a sound that is can only be Pink Floyd. The whole album revolves around Sid and his collapse.
