Hi guys. To me this song is very obviously about a man meeting a woman on a night out, they dance and later on make love together and ("the seeds were sown"). One of the very few things that can bind people "for life" is having a kid together.

Hes getting married (in the song).
Its his thoughts about the event that is marriage. The "one slip" was saying agreeing to the marriage.
"I will, I will she sighed to my request
And then she tossed her mane while my resolve was put to the test"
Someone just proposed and feels like a dog chasing a moving car that just stopped.
"Was it love, or was it the idea of being in love?
Or was it the hand of fate, that seemed to fit just like a glove?"
It happened without hardship, which made someone doubt if something this "big" was really meant to be this "easy".
"One slip, and down the hole we fall
It seems to take no time at all
A momentary lapse of reason
That binds a life to a life"
DOESNT REALLY NEED EXPLAINING
To summarize: The judgement slip was getting married.

Great song...if you read the lyrics, Id say its about a man and woman who have one slip in judgment...no worries, just my thoughts on this.
"Was it love, or was it the idea of being in love? Or was it the hand of fate, that seemed to fit just like a glove? The moment slipped by and soon the seeds were sown...the year grew late and neither one wanted to remain alone"
Another Jewel by Pink Floyd | Reviewer: Dan Brown | 2/8/09
There i no doubt about it, David Gilmour is among the gods. This song shows what is to come from him,and Pink Floyd in the future, and it only gets better and better.
Roger Waters was also a very intelligent person, but in my opinion David Gilmour makes a much better front-man, delivering a beautiful mellow aura.

this is probably my fav floyd song. not only is the music excellent, the words describe a person who has been to the edge of hell - and, thankfully, back!

Pretty good... | Reviewer: Frit DeNillie | 4/12/07
One Slip is probably one of the best Floyd songs they recorded after Roger Waters left the band. Powerful, strong lyrics, great musical build-up and an awesome bass-guitar break!
