------ performed by Pink Floyd
A trip through time and space... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/20/2007When the song begins, you are in a desert beach in a prehistoric era. A little creature comes out of the green and echoic ocean amazed by the warm light of the sun.
After that you are transported to modern era in the moment when two individuals accidentally look at each other in the eyes and understand how much is there to see and discover in others about ourselves.
The comparison is brilliant, a little creature rises and discovers the sun and the universe outside the ocean, and two ordinary people walking in a mundane street in a superficial world discover the universe inside each other's eyes.

Floyd's ultimate step into what we know them as today. | Reviewer: BehindTheWall | 4/6/2007
Yeah, I agree with a few other posters here. Echoes is clearly Pink Floyd's first submission to the style they followed later on troughout their career.
Also agreeing that, eventhough I'm not from the 70's nor 80's, this is a song you either shut out everything that is powered by electricity except your stereo and listen to it in a pitch dark room, or under the influence of illegal substances. Most experiences presented with this song, where there's been a room full of daring-to-stretch-the-borders-of-the-norm boys and gals have usually turned mute as those crystal clear tear drops start to echo in their ears, a result, provided by this song, that took our breath away even before we found out the effects of toking a pipe. Without doubt one of Pink Floyd's best compositions - it's a ride, it's a wave and it's an echoe you'll seldom come to forget.
what a song... | Reviewer: Rafay | 4/8/2007
it is sad how far the industry has digressed...it's songs like these that remind you of the days gone past, when it was music that took priority, not mindless selling of an image or bodies..
the first time i heard it...sent shivers down my spine...and every other time i heard it had the exact same effect...altered state or normal...this song transports you to another dimension...it's in simplicity that lies pink floyd's strength...no elaborate drum rolls, no fancy piano work, and no super speed with the guitar solos...they only strove for tunefulness...that's where so many of todays guitar heros (ref: steve vai, joe satriani and crew) falter...striving for showmanship over soul...
'Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me'
acquires new meaning each time...

Masterpiece | Reviewer: Aldo | 2/27/2007
I'm 15 and I can say that Echoes is not a song, is a masterpiece of pure musical art, truly the zenith of The Pink Floyd Sound, where they found their feet; I listen to it at last 4 times a day, and now I even think it's a bit short. I personally reccomend Echoes: Live at Pompeii, if you like Echoes from Meddle, then you must listen to its reloaded version of 1972 to really listen the amazing masterpiece.
This song.. | Reviewer: Banda | 2/25/2007
This song (as stairway to heaven) changed my life, I could really feel that deepness, or darkness, that mistical energy, what a great song!
Best song ever , though ... | Reviewer: Mucky | 2/17/2007
... I like the "live at Pompeii" version more because you hear that they're more comfortable and experienced with the song ... besides that , the song is like a soundtrack of you flying and landing and flying again to land for a last time ... Truly their best song and one of THE best song ever . Full of emotions and dynamics that just grab you by the feelings in a good way .
