He pleads with his wife not to go, but in the next breath states that his need is to, metaphorically at least, put her through the shredder in public and beat her. Great song | Reviewer: Y | 1/31/08 This one is a great song, Not the best but definately an important part of the wall. Waters show, using the character pink, an ugly side of marrige like few dare describing it. This song seem at first like a desperate love song, making it very ironical since love is probably the last thing described here.
