meaning of brick | Reviewer: adele ferries | 11/28/09
If you notice the lyrics: "their wives would thrash them an inch of their lives" This means even the teachers weren't spared of this elite world nor their angry wives. And the sound of t.v.s everywhere means deception/munipulation through media. What else..."Roman meal bakery" this mean that even though rich romans had to limit their consumption of food cause of limited supplies, it ended up that only the poor romans were effected and had to eat cereal crops. Ulimtately the last few lines of the lyrics is defying this world that has a human paradigm in place by the elitist and that is to say they have no faith in the human capacity hence we are "Just another brick in the wall" - all the same and the wall is a wall of apathy and ignorance...one we have unknowingly built ourselves! Pink Floyd were very creative individuals who understood that our individualism is being taken away. Think of the songs they could have written if they had had the information highway (w.w.w.) in full swing. What genius!!!!
typo's, it's ok! | Reviewer: Elizabeth | 11/25/09
as I was reading the intense lyrics of this most intense and defying song to some of the unfairness of life, I couldn't help to notice a couple of typos, if they are, on (derision) is it decision or derision, ironically they both make sense in that part of the song.

the term 'brick in the wall' can mean 1 of 2 things:
1 - all just a part of everyday's stupid society (cuz theyre obviously saying it sux) or
2 - theyre just another part of seperating them from whatever theyre being seperated from...
i dont no why i stated this, but i feel some pplz opinions r rong, so i decided to state myself, even though im only 13 and dont no much bout music.
btw, this song rox, and thats something coming from a non-floyd fan (its not that i dont like him, its that i dont really listen to him) i only listened to this song kuz i was doing it for a project, but i really got into it. guess i should listen to them more often ;)

the brick | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/27/09
the brick in the wall is not a metaphor for someone being a lifeless product, it's a symbol for the scarring that leads to the emotional wall that we build to keep the world out.
This song is about isolation from society. Later in the album we hear pink state "there must have been a hole there in the wall when i came in". it's the wall built to keep him seperated from the world. brick by scarring brick.
...TEAR DOWN THE WALL!!
another wall!! | Reviewer: anonymous | 4/5/09
its a protest song against the rigid schooling in boarding schools and regular ones too.
he talks basically abt the thought control dat went around wen this song was released.aftr the release it was banned in many countries.
another brick in the wall-bricks in a wall are all the same
so if someone is a brick in the wall...he makes no difference to u,or to ur point of view

Spanish Angle | Reviewer: dave barnett | 1/8/09
In Spain, when you die, most people don't get buried in the ground or cremated, but put in walls. When I went to my wife's uncle's funeral, and saw them placing placing the slab in front of his grave, all I could think of was the line "All in all you're just another brick in the wall."
