MEANING | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/4/11
The "Wall" is psychological wall in your consciousness, defending and baning you from opening the "free source software" available for everyone state of awareness free of fear, anxiety, anger... Teachers are building in bricks in your "Wall" making kids think alike, act, behave, look and grown alike. That's the message.
Thank You.
Many interpretations | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/21/11
It seems like many people have many different ideas about what the song means. Well, I know a lot of songs that could have different meanings depending on how you interpret them. This is one of many. I think it's about education, but that's just my interpretation. This is because I'm a student who has gone to many schools throughout my life, and it looks like all they're trying to do is meet standards.

Clearing it all up really offered little if any insight on anything in his whole post. which Roger waters interviews are you referring to? What is the important element of pinks wall? enlighten us please.Do you really know anything or are you just trying to sound informed?
Clearing it all up. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/7/10
The post titled "meaning of brick revised" is completely true.
The post titled "Another brick in the wall" is partially true. Pink Floyd is obviously the band, but the character in the album The Wall is also named this. Your version of what the album is about is wrong, it is not solely about his father. Many of the songs are indeed based on Roger Waters' life, but HE HIMSELF has said that the album is only loosely based on him.
The post titled "Wrong!!" was pointless because it restated what "meaning of brick revised" said in less detail, but implied that it was offering something new.
The post titled "berlin" is way off. Ignore it.
All other posts stating that it is about the control exhibited in the school system are correct, although they leave out the important element of Pink's wall.
Any future posts refuting the claims in this post are incorrect and to be ignored.
This information comes from interviews and statements from ROGER WATERS and the other members of PINK FLOYD itself, so don't bother.
Leave us kids alone | Reviewer: Shadow | 9/11/10
There has been alot of diffrent meanings about the songs, and i thought i would clear them up.The song is not about a brick wall,or about how bad the world is.It is about the school system, and how messed up it really is.Some teachers are encouraging students to give up on thier dreams. It is about how every day,the school system is turning from education to just plain control.

"Oh and i know this song is also about much bigger things too"
Actually, your first intuition is right on. This song is about exactly how you feel regarding school: That our educational system is not about education. It's about compliance and control. This song came out when I was around your age and I didn't really get it until many years later, so you certainly have a head start on me! If you really want to know more about the prison you're stuck in for the next few years, look up John Taylor Gatto and read his books. Our system does not like independent people who know how to think critically so you'll need to look outside your schooling system to become truly educated.
Hey Teacher leave us kids alone! | Reviewer: Mitra | 8/2/10
The first time i heard this song on the radio (100.7 the river) it really made sense to me. I am 12 years old and i have had some awful teachers in the past who really alienated the students and so when i started seventh grade today i listened to the lecture from our evil school administrator this song kept on replaying through my head. there were so many ridiculous rules that werent necessary and made absolutly no sense. why wont they just leave us alone? We arent criminals it isnt like we are horrible. Durant is a public school. we have absolutly no rights there. i wish we could just hold a protest. I think i will put the lyrics to another brick in the wall on my binders. i mean what can they do about it. it doesnt have any cursing or anything and if they make another ridiculous rule like NO DECORARTING YOUR BINDERS everyone will see my point. i know it doesnt sound like a big deal but im tired of teachers making kids feel insignifigant. Oh and i know this song is also about much bigger things too but hey we've got to start small. Oh and this song ROCKS!!! luv mimi
Very funny! | Reviewer: Satan | 7/15/10
Ha ha! The reviewer below is obviously having a little joke with us!
1- Yes, 1979 was during the Cold War. The Cold War is generally accepted to have run between 1946 (Churchill's 'Iron Curtain' speech) and 1991 (the collapse of the Soviet Union). A lot of music was released between these dates without having anything to do with the Cold War. The Wall has nothing to do with the Berlin Wall, although Roger Waters did perform the album here in 1990 to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall eight months before. Neat bit of promotion but there the links end.
The Wall is a largely biographical work embellishing Waters's life. The Wall acts as a metaphor for the confusion that fame can result in, needing isolation and privacy yet relying on exposure to achieve the successes that a massive band like the Floyd enjoy.
2- So, Hitler has a scottish accent, does he? Funny, could have sworn he was Austrian. Also, Hitler may have lived (and died) in Berlin, but was quite dead by the time the Wall was erected. Or so we are told...
It is a great song, though - and a mean solo!
history | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/22/10
"The wall" reffers also to the berlin wall.
1- The song was written (im not sure) in 1979, during the cold war
2- listen to the voice at the beggining of the song, after the helicopter passes by. Isn't it familiar to you? Don't you recognize the sound of Hitler screaming "You, Yes You, Stand Still Laddie"?
thats a great song
