Beatniks with purpose! | Reviewer: M. Dianne Berry | 1/19/10
As a singer by profession, my music roots have been highly influenced by these three disciples of our country's societal voices. If someone had to talk about seeds to the American thought in progression, it would be Peter, Paul , & Mary.
They've got the handle and anthem that ties the spiritual to the human condition.

As a singer, these three discipled the conscience of American through song and believable alliteration and inspired my first years.
Their triad of poetry and music planted those who've gone forward with traditional songs that stay in the backyard of our thoughts and bring us out of obscurity.
March on Washington, 1963 | Reviewer: JimK | 9/20/09
Beau Sweetwater is unfortunately flat out wrong. PP&M sang "Blowin' In The Wind" almost immediately preceding Dr. King's "I have a dream" speech in August, 1963. References abound on the web; check their official website. They were also with King in '65.
Date innacuracy | Reviewer: Beau Sweetwater | 8/6/09
PP&M are, and ever shall be one of my favorite groups. This biography is interesting, but at least one portion is not chronologically correct. They were with King in 1965, not 1963: I was there. Not to worry however, there was a great deal of creativity and inaccuracy involved in the media coverage of those events there during that time.
Many egregious conditions existed there at that time and change was sorely needed. What a shame most of the historical accounts paid so little attention to detail and accuracy. But then, has history not historically (irony intended) been that which is penned by the historian, not necessarily that which actually occurred?
plagiarism | Reviewer: Michael Holland Shepard | 10/30/08
I wrote Puff the Magic Dragon when I was almost 13 years old. The song was sent to Peter Paul and Mary. My mother was tricked out of the rights to the music. The hearing was a farce. My family's lives were threatened. Michael Holland Shepard (Limelighter) before the Limeliters. Please don't give awards to criminals!
Peter Paul and Mary: Beyond Superior Talent | Reviewer: Grace | 4/25/08
In a way, PPM is unquestionably a musical genius, unforgettable legend adored by different generations. Their natural gift, versatility and passionate adrenalin have always been apparent in every message-driven song and in every live performance. Each has his/her own creative way of expressing depth, strongly complemented with guitar dexterity, vocal prowess, classy vocal harmony, and of course the animated body grooves of Mary Travers. The group's superb pure talent, since time, has been accentuated by their strong activism on all forms of violence while promoting upright socio-economic pursuits, all of which only substantiates the intellectual context of the group - in professional, emotional and moral perspectives. Such differential value has been sustained for half a century, and still going strong. Peter Paul and Mary is a global Institution, well-recognized for their musical wisdom which has continued to advocate moral ideals to world society, by using their their mega talents and sense of expression. Peter Paul and Mary are real artists - they are intellectually articulate inside-out. And we are more than grateful for the immortal inspiring great songs they have poured to span of generations. With their ultra-terrific musical ingenuity, PPM is simply the best!
Awards for the trio | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/22/07
I would like to see Peter, Paul, and Mary receive the Kennedy Center Award that is given annually. I can't imagine any group that has continually been committed to ethical issues in our country over such a period of time.
