My mom used to sing me to sleep with this song. 20 + years later I sang it to my babies. Later yet I sang it back to her at her bedside as she got ready to go home to be with the Lord. My brothers and sisters never remembered hearing her sing it and I finally thought she had made it up. (I didn't quite have all the words down, I wondered how "Aunt Jemima" syrup fit into the lyrics!) I'm so glad to find it actually was a song from her era and feel even more special that in such a big family, she saved this lullaby for me! I knew it was from "back in the day," but I had no idea Perry Como had done this song and that he was singing the real lyrics!! To all Dads everywhere...sing to your children!
