The Reviews about Dancing Barefoot (page 1/1)
------ performed by Patti Smith

Patti is one of the "Lady Treasures" of rock & roll | Reviewer: Paul White | 8/8/2007

Dancing Barefoot is my favorite Patti Smith song. Theyre's so much "going on" there lyrically; she truly does find her righteous space -among women. She gives you so much to think about throughout the song, especially at the end. Not only is she at her best vocally on this album (Wave), the musicianship of the band really helps kick it all up a couple notches. Check out "Frederick" and her cover of "So You Want To Be A Rock & Roll Star" - both excellent!

I think above all else though, I love her concept for the album liner picture which has Patti standing there (I believe with a dove in hand - alas I've misplaced it!!) with this quote from the poet Rainer Maria Rilke which says: "For one human being to love another; that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation." If that doesn't say it all, I don't know what does. Thanks Patti Smith for reminding us! God bless you!

Haunting tune from a cutting edge artist that put out a lot of great material. Great music, great lyrics, great vocals -- what more could you ask for?
