what this is ACTUALLY about | Reviewer: biddy | 10/1/07
so, basically there is a lawyer who is supposed to be giving a job at his firm to a 'virgin' who is actually a ho, and the 'virgin' is actually working for the constable and so the virgin and the lawyer do their thing, then when the lawyer leaves the constable comes in and she's fixing her face or whatever, drops her make-up bag in surprise and spills the goss (a purse of a different kind) so thats what i think its about and thats what ryan ross thinks it about, and he wrote it so he should know, thanks, biddy
Footnotes | Reviewer: Rennie | 9/11/07
Soooo, apparently some of you don't know that there are extra lyrics to this song. . . that aren't in the song. . . more or less, they're footnoes, and are as follows:
"And here is where he entertains the proposition arrested on possession
Or.
(now if this were you)
think of what you wouldn't want to happen.
They ended up...well, making love isn't exactly what I'm looking for.
But.
You.
Get.
The.
Picture.
Oh, what a wonderful caricature of intimacy."
That part isn't in the song, but I believe it explains what happens.
The constable comes in after the lawyer leaves, and she's fixing herself up. He busts in, she drops her purse, which I believe contains a drug of some type in a different purse. . .like a plastic baggy or something. *shrugs*
So instead of arresting her for the drugs, he uses her for free. What would you do, neh?
Hmm... | Reviewer: Annette | 9/1/07
The Lawyer's Wife probley knows but won't leave him because she's a golddigger "The Mrs. will stay with the cheating attorney / moonlighting aside, she really needs his money."
The Cop is also hiring the same Prositute "the constable, and his proposition, for that 'virgin'"
The Prositute is going to stop her prositution and will become a catholic
"Accessorizing with a rosary tucked inside her lingerie she's getting a job at the firm come Monday."
The "motel" might be a cheap motel, but it could be that the "motel" is a whore house (first 5 lines)
That's all I can think of now.
"Purse." | Reviewer: John | 9/1/07
Um, by "purse," they mean secret, as in "pursing" your lips. I know for a fact that's what they mean.
She dropped her purse and everything spilled out, and she kept why the stuff was in there to herself.
Fremont Street | Reviewer: AJFreeway | 8/25/07
The song is likely talking about the Fremont Street in Las Vegas, Nevada. Because the band was formed in Summerlin, a suburb just outside of Las Vegas, that is likely what they are talking about.
What I think the Lyrics mean... | Reviewer: JAG | 8/23/07
Ok, so obviously there are quite a few different views of this song, but having studied poetry, Homer, and many different AP forms of literature, I'll do my best to get it right...
Ok, so we've got that the "Virgin" and the Lawyer are doin' the dirty, and from the first line we know it's a below average motel on the "corner" of whatever street, hinting at the possibility that this girl does "business" at this motel.
Then it goes on to describe the motel, "appealing because it is so unappealing" which would mean, because it is so run down it is a good place to do "business." It says a "hint of asbestos" and a "dash of formaldehyde." Asbestos, used in cleaning chemicals and construstion matierials, could mean that the place is not so high class (as already stated) and formaldehyde is known to be used in embalming, which would make "the habit of decomposing" fit.
"Along with the people inside" probably has to do with the decomposing again. As in, the place in decomposing, which calls for the matierials containing asbestos and formaldehyde, which would make the place nicer.
Now the "caricature of intimacy" is pretty obvious I think. We know there's something sexual going on inside, but like a caricature, it is not completely realistic. Not realistic in the song is because this girl is getting paid, and not doing this act out of love.
The "Virgin" is as stated a Catholic, and by accessorizing with a Rosary, she is remember that there is something more than her and her current profession.
Then next two lines tell how the Lawyer obviously lied to his wife and told her he was on business.
This is all I have time to type...
Tell me whether or not you think I'm accurate.
Thanks.

The Bridge | Reviewer: Annette | 8/23/07
Brittany is right. The bridge melody comes from the melody of the chorus of "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music and the bridge lyrics poke fun at "My Favourite Things".
the real review | Reviewer: chris g | 8/20/07
well for one she wasnt leaving god for love...she un-intentionally left god for money she needed...she needed the job but the lawyer wouldn't hire her unless they did wat they did wat came out of her purse was wat i think a used condom...
