A thought. | Reviewer: kpotd | 5/5/09
Well, after reading everyone's views and then rereading the lyrics, here is my interpretation:
The police officer is plotting with either the wife or, my thought the husband to take out the virgin. Lawyers and cops sometimes can go hand in hand... especially in places like SF. (if 4th and fremont is referring to SF, which is fairly close to where the courthouses are). After the lawyer had sex with her, she "crashed" into the badge/ police officer meaning he pulled her over. He wanted to search her purse and being the virgin she is, she allowed him (the contents spilled out) but the lawyer planted something that she didn't know was there. Therefore, she had a purse of a different kind, or one filled with stuff that she had no idea about.

This sounds like it was a set up to get the "virgin" out the way from the constable and or the wife of the lawyer. It does say "proposition for THAT VIRGIN". From the way that I am reading this the proposition that the constable had for the wife just hours before the virgin went to see the lawyer was that they was going to make the virgin have an accident and have the police find something that she was not supposed to have.
The Constable? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/2/09
Okay, so I get the majority of the song. I love the reference to the sound of music, and think it fits nicely. The line "There are no raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses" has alot of symbolism in it. "There are no raindrops on roses" refers to passionate and intimate sex between two people, and that now that kind of sex doesn't exist, and has been lost to lust. "girls in white dresses" refers to commitment, or marriage, and that you don't see people getting married for the right reasons (perhaps for money, or lust) or that no one is showing commitment to one partner, and sleeping with many. However, there is one thing about this song. Who is the constable? I don't get him and his "proposition". Can anyone elaborate?

okay...i was reading some of the reviews and where are you people getting all this stuff about the wife? it only talks about her twice, once when it says that shes going to stay with her cheating husband because she needs the money and the second time when it mentions that the lawyer lied to her...and i think the "There was a terrible crash Between her and the badge" was about the 'virgin' and the constable...not the wife....though i could be wrong....

The song is amazing. I'm in love with Panic! At the Disco. Brendan Urie & Ryan Ross are my favorite! I love the lyrics even though they are interpeted differently but whatever. Still a great song!!!! All of their songs are orgasmic. Lol
I e Panic! At the Disco.
love the song | Reviewer: kina | 3/13/09
okay, 1st off, i really really love this song. its xtra good and amazin. but i read like some of the reviews and im not seeing where this wife of his has killed herself. nowhere does it say or even infer that she died. couldnt the "purse of a different kind" be a condom and the wife could b very confused as 2 y he has a condom and now knows what the "strictly business" was, but she decides 2 stay with him anyway (maybe). and the badge most likely means a police officer. i mean, if u get into a car accident, aren't the 1st people u call are the police??? anywayz, i love the song and the music video 4 it is hilarious lmao

also with the "taking best guesses" and the 2 lines after that, maybe its talking about the motel sheets and how filthy they r and how the lawyer and virgin are just taking their chances on having sex on something so dirty. they really don't care and just doing wat they have to do. thats my best guess. thats all my thoughts on it and if i have anymore ideas i will continue my thoughts, lolz

This song is about hookers and how times have gone from better to worse. "There are no raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses." Raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses was once happiness, but now, the definition of "happiness" to most people has become having sex and making money -- "It's sleeping with roaches and taking best guesses". This part is also a play on "My Favorite Things".
As for the badge and the "other purse" part, the "badge" was, I'm guessing, the police officer's badge when the hooker got caught. The "other purse" is referring to the books hookers wrote in to keep tabs of who they're having sex with. "And all of the people inside" refers to the people mentioned in the notebook.
But it doesn't show the hooker as a complete slut. It explains how she really needs money and that there's really no other way to get that money.

"There are no raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses.
It's sleeping with roaches and taking best guesses
At the shade of the sheets and before all the stains"
I think this is talking about the changing times, how simple things like rain covered roses and white dresses are no longer happiness. Today, people's favorite things are sex and money, and P!@TD compared the Sound Of Music's favorite things to the majority of today's favorite things (Which in hindsight, can sometimes be horrible.. "Least Favorite Things"). Just my guess. I Could be completely wrong..

most of the people here are right in my opinion. the song does talk about the virgin selling herself beause she needs the money, and the wife, from what i ubderstand does kill herself upon hearing the news about her cheating husband.
