Do you have to totally understand the all the lyrics to like the song? And if you do then....then you do...or at least you think you do.

Undertones. | Reviewer: Mimidagr81 | 3/25/07

This is a great song, i mean it has an amazing tune though the lyrics do have a meaning. I particually like the lines:

"Raindrops on roses & girls in white dresses...."

The video is probably one of the best this year. For those who don't know it portrays a mime acting in a porn show (not as bad as it seems)and portrays his girl friend. And its really interesting showing them mime and how in the end she mime cheats on him.

Its annoying for me as the video is 18+ on youtube and i can't be bothered to get another account.

Its a clever song. Basically for those with delicate ears its descibing the life of a prostitute who gets 'busted' eg.caught by the police.

My Oppinions on the literal points of this song | Reviewer: Vivi | 2/28/07

Atmosphere- The atmosphere of this song could be described as confusing and depressing. The reasons for these choices of atmosphere are because the Mrs. As they describe in the song is confused and depressed because she is torn between the fiscal support and the knowledge of a cheating husband. The people in this song are living two different lives as it describes the Mrs. “moonlighting around” and the prostitute of the song gets caught. So this is why the atmosphere is somber, confusing, and depressing at the same time.

Speaker- the speaker of this song is their mentality of life. I say this because throughout the song it feels as if it’s a big thought bubble. You’re reading the thoughts of the characters of the song. For example in the song “the Mrs. Will stay with the cheating attorney, Moonlighting aside, she really needs his money.” You can see the dilemma and the thoughts and the feelings of her. Then later through the song when it gets to the “ there are no raindrops on roses, and girls in white dresses, etc” this tells you and describes you to you that life isn’t full of joy and that its really full of lies, cheating, desperation, and depression mentally and physically.

Repetition-Caricature of Intimacy, Raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses…, these are the two main things that are repeated throughout the lyrics in this song. These songs are the things that distinguish the meaning or the theme of the song that is why they are repeated for example Caricature of Intimacy sets kind of the like the imagery, etc.

Diction- Caricature would be the main diction in this song because it is the word that brings the song together because it shows the negative distinctions and the “fake” love per say of the song which portrays the feelings and lifestyles of the characters.

Imagery- One main thing that stands out in this song that shows and describes imagery is the phrase in this song “What a wonderful caricature of intimacy”. This phrase shows in the song fake love. It tells you that life, sometimes, people go through a ludicrous kind of grotesque time and in this time it just so happens to be love. A fake, negative, laughable, love because it’s a relationship with a prostitute.

Tone- The tone of the Writer of Speaker of this song is kind of a somber, serious feeling behind it because of the meaning behind the song. The tone of this song resembles the feelings of all the things these people are going through and all the emotions that are coming out and being bottled up at the same time.

Allusion- An allusion in this story would be the reference towards the song “These are a few of my favorite things” from the Sound of Music. It’s a contradiction between the original song and the song wrote by Panic! At the Disco. In the original song, by the Sound of Music, the song portrays and elaborates the exultance of life, the great things that bring us joy. In the song By Panic! It indirectly shows you that life is not always happy and is now and again filled with lies, cheating, desperation, deceit, and nonetheless things that you don’t want to do but do anyways.
