Though it's hard to figure out what is this song about,but still i love it.I'm just a 19 year old girl and i did listen to this song which i believe released before i was born...Yeah,as a human being,we should move on no matter what had happened in the past.God had destined for something good for us behind all this hardship.:).

The true meaning for this song was meant for when he got kicked out of black sabbath he locked his self in a hotel room for days and wrote this song. He gave up on alot of stuff. Thats how he met sharon, who aked him if she could help him.

i could careless what this song means, it could have other lyrics and it would still be great! randy only makes it even more powerful, another view of what in the 80's were power ballads, much more originally composed idk im just babbling haha

I think this song is about life and death... probably from Buddhism point of view, it is about you saying goodbye to this life and believing there is "After Life". that is how i read it... my favorite song of Ozzy :)

I had to say goodbye for ever to my one true love, because I couldn't stand to be "just a friend" to her after we broke up.
She chose to pursue a career, not a life with me.
The last words she said to me was "I love you", and that made it too hard for me to be her friend, because I would still hope for her to be mine again.
I think that is what this song is about, to totally let go and forget about the one you once loved more than anything, so you can move on.

Yes, I've held on to the past for more than 16 long, long years. I finally got on the internet and reconnected, and now I'm just starting to say goodbye (send a few prayers my way if you will, it'd help). She wasn't who I thought she was, it was pretty awful to be honest. I just found out this week that she's been thinking of me as, "that scary guy." And I guess I was, not by intention but by misunderstanding. Hey you boys and girls, communication and honesty, honesty with yourself especially. I'm gettin' old, this song came out when I was in high school and I'm still trying to figure life/love out. I wish you all the best, a hug to those who are hurting.
