i think the man who sold the world is about the writer's alter ego. this person seems to have suffered from multiple disorder or something in which he is unaware of what he was doing coz he's been switching from one identity to another. as stated "Although I wasn't there, he said I was his friend. Which came as a surprise, I spoke into his eyes. I thought you died alone, a long long time ago", it seems like his alter ego existed long time ago and now has been haunting him due to personal reasons or unfinished business or something. so, in my own personal stupid opinion, alter ego is like your past self whos been dead long time ago and reincarnated.

Kurt just dont live in his body which was burried,,,he was living ,,he is living n he will b living in millions of grunge youngstars body,,,so i believe he,ll b never dead,,,,,,,wish u were here kurt,,,,

Its obvious isn't it? lol YOU sold the world, all of you, all of us! He is talking to himself, his mirror reflection, in everyr face he meets, along every street yadda yadda. You do it to yourself, and that's why it really hurts

Anyhoot, they're both fantastic versions, I love both of them. They each offer something the other just couldn't quite give; Bowie with the polish and layering of sound, Cobain with his broken emotional take on the song. Both are good in completely different ways, and that's what makes a great cover of a great song.

nirvana one of my favourite band.Nirvana have many heart touching songs which also change the mood of person who has depressed or in tension.This song shows the kurt's interest about the music

When I was 15, my dad gave me a gift. Of course, he give me an "Unplugged" CD.
Well, I was confused for the first time. And my dad said, "Everyone just live for a while, but look what Kurt was doin'."
And just it, I dont really know what my dad trying to say!

In April 4th 2009 my dad was died. And I remember about his. I think what my dad trying to said is "If u really want to be a great person, just make a different world with your own way. It doesn't matter how people looking at you, the most important thing is we love what we doin'. At least some people will approciate what we've done, Son! "

This is an original David Bowie song BUT I like the cover more then the original.
Kurt Cobain was a wonderful man. He really was... My dad and my mum think that he is just a drug addict but he is way more than a depressed grunge singer!! He is so sensitive, loves people a lot, thats why he killed himself, because of thinking he is not enough for us... I totally agree "shadow"s comment. Kurt you were, are and will be enough for us. REST IN PEACE... :(

David Bowie did struggle with his identity , but in a much more literal sense . He often times confused himself with Ziggy Stardust , and became obsessed with the character . He stated in many interviews that Ziggy was basically a lifeform that haunted him after he abandoned the character .

Still , Ziggy was my favourite of Bowie's creations . No matter how weird Ziggy looked , he was always amazing .

If only one person could turn a bowie song to an even better song, it would be Kurt. It really would. Kurt was a visonary, tortured by his fans. He loved us all, but just couldn't live with the idea that he would disapoint all of us. Don't worry Kurt, you never did. Rest In Peace, Kurt Cobain.

Yes, this is originally David Bowie. But no, Bowie is not gay he's married to the super-hot model Iman. Nirvana's version is great since Kurt's voice breaks perfectly to the song, but David Bowie's is classic and also full of such emotion. Neither has to be better, they're totally different musical styles.
