ITS A COVER | Reviewer: Maicol Carvajal Morera | 9/24/10

Just to get things straight, I love Nirvana, its one of my best bands.
1.Kurt DID NOT COMPOSE THIS SONG!!! this Nirvana song is a cover of David Bowie original song.
2.Kurt Cobain is my hero, but if you think you know about Nirvana I thought you at least knew something about this band, its songs, albums, etc. OK Sumit Das ?

My notion | Reviewer: Sumit Das | 9/22/10

Its difficult to visualize what might have been going on in kurt's mind when he composed this song....Maybe he is dreaming of who he was before he got addicted to drugs or how his life changed after the popularity of nirvana...now he is lamenting about how he lost control of the man who he was.....always in control...but now that personality has faded away and there's no going back.....his earlier personality has died a long time ago....
This are my views ...i dont have much idea about the earlier days of kurt when he was young....of what he might have been..there can be so many interpretations of nirvana songs...find one which suits yours thoughts the best.

Nirvana is the best alternative band of all time so don't go putting Kurt down and acting like he was writing this as a "message" it's a song to hear so shut up seriously there's nothing more to it....

hmm............. | Reviewer: well | 5/21/10

What's interesting about Nirvana more so than anyother band is that they didn't want fame which is why they hoped In Utero would drive away the posers but it was to late and thank fuck for once on something to do with kurt theres no one going on about how he was murdered and as for this song its special to me don't know about the rest of you but my first nirvana Album was Mtv Unplugged my dads mate lent it to him he gave it to me and from 1o onwards I listen to nirvana everyday and it all started from this song

music of Nirvana | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/15/10

Nirvana was a big name during the 90s. I remember waht a lot of fans experinced after the death of Kurt Cobain, even there were reported attempts for suicide and actually some of his fans managed to do it. I also remember how on some articles were written something like "don't kill yourself... There was a girl who shut her head off with the gun of her father.. and now when I am listening Nirvana it makes me to travel back to these times. And not that I have chosen this but something made me to have a look at these times. Whatever, the best thing which everybody could do is to stop sniffing in the life of Kurt Cobain and spit on his music in the year of 2010 when the life is trully different and it would never be like those in the 90's. So the people who still like Nirvana shouls say a goodbay to this person and leave him to rest in peace. Just remember what he did as a music and stop spreading over his personal life but appreciate the music of Nirvana. That's it! Those who don't like Nirvana and have never listened their music just shut your shitty mouth and don't say anything about something you don't know anything about it or...if so you can try the glory of Kurt Cobain and after that to share your own opinion how people should live their lives. Good luck to all of you! If you are still alive you can share with the fans of Kurt Cobain what is your opinion about addictions, alternative music and way of thinking. Now go wipe your stupid ass hole and leave the people who are death to rest in peace and those who are still alive to live thir lives.

hello!!! | Reviewer: hjb | 3/12/10

This song was written by david bowie and is about meeting yourself but not recognizing who you are or what you have done! Bowie like Kurt struggled with his identity and many of the things that happened in his life.

That is why this song appears more and more often later in Kurt's performances, he was starting to struggle A beginning to the end you could say.

sold the world | Reviewer: mike F | 2/10/10

kurt has the strange abilities to find songs that don't sound too good and hes sees something in them. He makes this song his own. This is a david bowe song but david bowe could never play it like kurt does. A lot of songs i thoght sucked sound soo good when kurt plays them. like those meat puppet songs too. I love this song he sounds soo amazing live. if you are a nirvana fan, unplugged is a must buy, even if the profits go to that bitch courtney

cool | Reviewer: trez | 1/30/10

it is a david bowie song, kurt says so at the end of one of the live shows. I think it's exactly what the lyrics say it is, imagine meeting the man who sold the world, not sure what that actually means but there's a lot in the world, imagine if it had an owner.

Kurt song??? wtf!!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/31/09

Man... This song wasn't made by Nirvana or even by Kurt Cobain! What are you saying! I'm shocked! This song was rotten by David Bowie!

Even so, I love this Nirvana's version. The best of them and of this theme, by far!

-_- | Reviewer: Kitourahime | 12/21/09

I myself, I don't think it's got anything at /all/ to do with God. It is, to me, about meeting with a man who isn't quite there - a drug addict, perhaps (which Kurt could relate to, as opposed to, say, The Magic Dance). So maybe he was relating it to his own life; or maybe we're all overanalysing the /shit/ out of this song, and have forgotten that no one gives a crap if x thinks that it's about turning away from God. But hey, I could be wrong.

My opinion | Reviewer: kenny | 12/12/09

The beginninng of the song is about an meeting with The Devil our with Jesus. Well it can be both, but my first thought was jesus, but it changed whe I heard the song 2 the end.
The reason i Belive this song is an meeting with the devil is that(if this song is about him), Cobain says he Died a long time ago, but is still alife, which means he roams this world without an soul. Also the Devil aka Satan betrayed god and sold the world, before he became bad he was the protector of our earth. So the conclusion is: Kurt Cobain Sold his soul to the Devil for his succes, and died in the age of 27? well never sell your soul before you hit 27 :D Kurt cobain lost his faith in God and Jesus and turned 2 Satan.
Meeting with Jesus, well, he died a long time ago, but can still return 2 earth, which makes it possible 2 meet him. Cobain lost his faith along time ago, so he lost his soul, the rule is the day u start 2 belive in god u can not stop again, otherwise u have chosen your way and "lost" your soul. choose urself, but the Devil theory is the best i think, since he had 2 die one way our another.

Yeah! the song is about him. He speaks of his split personality disorder through this song. First time he sings "we never lost control" and then he sings "I never lost control". In fact the person he met on stairs was his another personality ;)

my idea | Reviewer: smush | 10/16/09

i think the song is about him, he is singing about himself, as if he doesnt know himself anymore. thats just what i get out of the song. i could annalyse it some more but that would be to much like English lit lessons, and anyway.. he wrote it as a song to be listend to, not to be deconstructed so much you lose the first impact of it.

SwaY | Reviewer: SwAy | 10/8/09

no one knows that he talks about "antigonish" in this song. its a poem by Hugh Mearns. better known as "the little man who wasnt there" it was written about man who haunted a stairway. in the beginning where he sings i passes upon a stair we spoke in was and when, although i wasnt there he said i was his friend." that was also in a david bowie song.
