The Reviews about Smells Like Teen Spirit (page 2/ 13)
------ performed by Nirvana

All of you only prove my point. | Reviewer: Bite Me | 8/25/09

Why did I come here to spew venom about the guy? Because he's been dead 15 years, and I'm sick of the props the shithead still gets. All of you sound like the kind of people that would observe a sheet of paper a chimpanzee has shat on and rant and rave over how masterful and meaningful it is. Because that's what Cobain's music is; the audio form of fecal matter, shat out by a drug-addicted former janitor. And you people eat it up as if it were made of gold.

"Take my suggestion just go and listen to shit like iglesias or linkin park(their guitar distortions might sound better to you than cobain solos)."

Sorry anon, I listen to bands that actually know how to play their instruments and write lyrics with actual MEANING, rather than just rhyming words and just letting other people make up meaning for it. I listen to bands like Dream Theater, Ayreon, Frameshift, Megadeth, and a bunch of others. You assume I'd listen to shit like Linkin Park because you see them as the polar opposite to Nirvana, when in reality, they're cut from the same cloth; commercialized tripe, marketed towards and gobbled up by ignorant 14 year old boys who think they're 'edgy.'

"even that doesn't change the fact that he was a musical genius."

No. He. Fucking. Wasn't. There's NO innovation, no complexity, NOTHING special to the shitfucker's lyrics. He just happened to strike the right chord with the right batch of retards with his idiotic rantings. If people could just accept that, I'd have no problem with the guy. But no, they have to put him on a pedestal as some GRAND musical genius, on par with the likes of Hendrix, Clapton and Lennon. It's an INSULT to the memory of those men to claim Cobain as their equal.

"Also, he isn't viewed as "Christ-like", more of a "pioneer of modern punkrock/rock/grunge","

All the insistence that he was, indeed, some musical virtuoso is proof that his fans think of him as Jesus Christ reborn(and then dead again, HA!). You claim he's all of this, when there's no evidence for it. You look at ACTUAL songwriting giants and guitar virtuosos, and Cobain's work doesn't stack up. Not even CLOSE. I get that aside from his actual abilities, his work means a lot to people, and I can even respect that, but it doesn't make him more than he was. I'm sure Britney Spears means a lot to a lot of people, it doesn't make HER special, either.

"to attack him is wrong, considering not only is he dead, but he also touched lives,"

I'm not going to spare someone any criticism just because they blew their own head off. That's hypocritical. The fact is, all of his music, everything else aside, the man had a wife and a young child. And he pulled that trigger anyway. That makes him a pathetic, rotten, selfish piece of shit to me. Even if he weren't famous and didn't have all that shitty music behind him, I'd feel the same way. My FAVORITE guitarist could do the same, and I'd consider them a piece of shit, too.

"Your probably some music snob too that thinks you're better because you listen to music that has deep meaning and makes your ego even uglier."

What a surprise, a Nirvana fan that doesn't know the difference between "your" and "you're." Oh yeah, I'm a SNOB for demanding something above novice-level playing ability and/or coherent lyrics for a band or musician to be deserving of greatness. You ever wonder why Cobain's music is in every book of beginner's lessons for guitarists? Think about it.

"because we all know you don't even have the amount of independent thought process to even try to understand the message delivered by one of the most simple, in your face, revolutionary lyricists of all time."

Oh, that's rich. "In your face?" "Revolutionary?" Any other cliche'd words you'd like to toss out there, Leno? The dude was nothing special. He just struck the right chord. That's IT. His lyrics and everything else have no meaning beyond what simpletons like you assign to them. Did HE ever come out and say what his songs were supposed to be speaking out against? No, because they didn't say shit. They were just words strung together to rhyme and fit with the music. And again, a lot of other rock music throughout history is exactly that, and I can respect that. My problem, again, is when he shouts shit about mosquitoes and libidos and you people act like he's giving the St. Crispin's Day Speech in song form. Oh, I'm sorry... I forgot you're a Nirvana fan, that last reference probably sailed 40 feet over your head. My bad.

"But he's touched more lives and healed more people than you ever have or will."

And again, I could respect that. But there are artists FAR more talented than this decompsing fuckbrain was, and they don't get half the credit they deserve. Cobain was NOTHING SPECIAL. Like I said, he just happened to reach the right crowd at the right time. Nothing more, nothing less. THAT'S why I'm so angry at the props the fucker gets.

Reviewer Bite me:

First off. Screw you. You may be entitled to your opinion but I personally think that right should be stripped from you. You looked up the lyrics. Meaning you obviously wanted to look at the lyrics only so that you could dig up some ammo to burn Nirvana and Kurt Cobain with. Well guess what, it didn't work. You're foul mouthed rant about how pathetic Nirvana and Kurt were didn't turn anybody to your point of view, didn't better the world in any way. In fact, it did the opposite. It proved just how much these "brainless ramblings" have helped the world. How Kurt actually did something productive with his time on Earth (despite if it was cut short) which is a hell of a lot more than you can say. Because obviously you have been spending way too much time looking up FUCKING LYRICS to songs that you don't even like. What a waste of a life. Your probably some music snob too that thinks you're better because you listen to music that has deep meaning and makes your ego even uglier. Everybody listens to different music man, and yours is no better than anybody else's in the rest of the world's mind. So go waste your life away doing whatever fags like you do because we all know you don't even have the amount of independent thought process to even try to understand the message delivered by one of the most simple, in your face, revolutionary lyricists of all time. He may not be good at guitar or have a beautiful voice. But he's touched more lives and healed more people than you ever have or will. As if that wasn't already a given.

I can tell ya what it means | Reviewer: IsometricKilla | 8/20/09

Ah... okay... | Reviewer: Alyak | 8/16/09

Okay, guys, seriously. Why discuss this controversial crap on a lyrics page? I mean, seriously? If you don't like Nirvana, then don't even look up their damn song lyrics. If you do, look them up and embrace them. Don't come here and just insult people, PLEASE. It just proves how ignorant the human race is.

I, for one, love Nirvana. So, therefore, I come to this page and read the lyrics, look at the comments, and post one myself. A positive one, mind you. This song is a great song, even if Cobain hated it because of its mainstream quality. We still love it. ;D

bite me, you need to get a few facts straight asswipe... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/8/09

bite me:
you saying that his ramblings are random are not true, but some of his lyrics seem that way, but meant something (hidden)to him, whether you realize it or not. Also, he isn't viewed as "Christ-like", more of a "pioneer of modern punkrock/rock/grunge", and hopefully you are not really believing we view him as you stated. third off, his suicide/murder is still unclear, but some conspiracy theories exist, so its not guaranteed that he killed himself.to support that, he was high as hell on cocaine, so it would be miraculous if he aimed it and pulled the trigger right. fourth off, his death didn't make him popular (he already was, especially after Nevermind), but made him poplularly talked about (as in any celebrity dying i.e. Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawwcett, etc. finally, his inspiration wasn't mainly from drugs, it was mainly from his thoughts, his views, his life, his hopes, his fears, and even his dreams. to attack him is wrong, considering not only is he dead, but he also touched lives, asshole, and without him and Nirvana's presence in the rock/punk/grunge scene, there would be no grunge, no punk, no rock as it is today. I am a fan, and even though you are a citizen entitled to your own opinions, you still need the facts, instead of assumptions.

OK? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/6/09

To "bite me" below, if you hate the song so much, why look up the lyrics in the first place? Everyone IS entitled to their opinion, but still you can't deny the influence Nirvana had on rock music, whether it be good or bad. That's what I'm saying and I'm sticking to it.

Fuck you bite me | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/6/09

I sometimes wonder how people like bite me even get a chance to fucking go around not even saying, but judging the soaring (and roaring ) artistic geniuses like kurt and even questioning the musical proficiency of the grunge god himself. Take my suggestion just go and listen to shit like iglesias or linkin park(their guitar distortions might sound better to you than cobain solos).nirvana is not for you. And how the hell can you judge nirvana's music from kurt's personal life. So what that he was addict or even vile(suppose), even that doesn't change the fact that he was a musical genius. So nirvana haters can Fuck off. Nirvana grunges(rocks)

Idiot song. | Reviewer: Bite me | 7/29/09

I fucking hate this idiotic song. Everyone babbles about the OH SO DEEP meaning in it, but you know what it comes off as to me? The brainless ramblings of a drug addict, picking random words to rhyme with his 3 chord structured song with the complexity of a 5 year old's macaroni painting. Because that's what it is. Nobody can say what it really means, because there IS no meaning, just whatever each person tacks onto it.

Nirvana and Cobain don't deserve half the credit they get. Their music is all the same; the distorted ramblings of a heroin addict, and millions of people declare this shit to be GENIUS, just because they're all assigning their own individual meanings to it.

If Cobain hadn't painted the wall with his drug-tainted brains, nobody would remember who the fuck they are today, and nobody would view Cobain as the Christ-like figure in music his idiot fans try to portray him as today.

I won't say I hope he Rests In peace, and I won't give him respect... because besides the above, he ended his life, knowing full well his responsibilities to his wife and young daughter. Anybody who has a child that age, and kills themselves anyway deserves a special place in hell.

So yeah. Fuck Kurt Cobain. I hope he's rotting in hell.

sideshow | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/3/09

nirvana is a touching band very misunderstood but thats the thing theyre one of the best bands of the 90s and smells like teen spirit is a great song i use to write the lyrics on my desk in high school

suicide | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/26/09

There are meanings to this song and i don't know why all you people don't see that, it says it all in the lyrics

like "Load up on guns
Bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's overboard self assured"

also "I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end"

the title is also saying something, it's trying to say "smells like teen spirit" as in so many teen are commiting suicide
