not quite the true story.... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/30/07
The girl was kidnapped and raped, but i'm pretty sure that the escape is added in by cobain and is simply poetic justice---i don't think the real "polly" got away
Kurt Cobain | Reviewer: Autism | 5/29/07
It's too bad you queer fucking dickheads forced Kurt into suicide.
"Truth - covered in security
I can't let you smother me
I'd Like to, but it couldn't work
Trading off, taking turns"
It is about rape | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/29/07
Just read or watch a little about Nirvana. Krist in an interview even said that Kurt was amazed by an article in the paper about a girl getting raped and escaping by acting like she liked him. Its all from the rapist perpective. Where hes saying he let his guard down and all that. Rape Me their other song is from the girls perpective I believe.
love it | Reviewer: dicko | 5/12/07

really what happened.. | Reviewer: nirvana | 5/11/07
this song is about a young girl who was kidnapped, brutally raped and tourtured with a blow torch...kurt wrote it in the perspective of the perpatrator. i read this is kurts biography heavier then heaven
god listen | Reviewer: anthonytsangarides59@hotmail.com | 5/10/07
the whole song seems like an implication of how kurt might actually want to kill himself.reading rape into it is far fetched.try reading the words not as prose but as a continual stream of feeling. Can't go into too much detail but after each line after telling polly what to do,there is,if you read the lines after ,an implication of what he has been and needs to be doing himself.
ONLY AN INTERPRETATION,THATS THE GREAT THING ABOUT MUSIC.
Idiot. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/9/07
if she was raped in an alley, how did he hold her captive for weeks on end torturing her with a blowtorch? eh.

It's actually about a girl who was raped and torched "I think she wants some water
To put out the blow torch"

The true story
After a local bands concert, a girl was kidnapped and raped in an alley. She tricked the rapist into thinking she liked him and when she saw the oppurtunity escaped alive.

Nirvana is awesome. Favorite band. too bad kurt pissed off dave and killed himself.
dude you are wrong | Reviewer: JON | 4/9/07
In the original Polly lyrics, its "cut yourself" and it "Want some help? Please myself" cause its about a dude rapping a girl and the depressing connotations of which, but saying that the Unplugged in New York you can hear it better is stupid because its a live show recorded and bands change their lyrics in live shows all the time
Polly, the girl is truth | Reviewer: Daniel | 4/2/07
I read in a review, that's the real meaning of the song, Kurt get's angry when he knew that and he makes the song. This was written by the point of view of the violator, Opposite case of "rape me"... Sorry for my english, i'm just learning this idiom.. Chao!

It's hurt yourself, not cut. You can hear it better on the Polly for Unplugged 1993.
