This song is soo fun to play !!! | Reviewer: Cristhian | 9/16/09
This song just makes me laugh !
It's enjoyable and fast haha
And it's just a song for Christs sake, stop talking about what it means or his motives or your opinions on his death -just enjoy Nirvana ! ! !
fun to play! | Reviewer: k | 7/16/09
it sounds like he's almost making fun of mainstream music to be honest haha
but thats just how i take the song , yall have your opinions and music is ment to mean diffrent things to diffrent people , so tsop with the "no it's about this" just shut up and let other people voice they're opinions no need to get your panties in a twist
Song was just written quickly to have another track | Reviewer: duh | 4/15/09
At the end he says:
It is now time to make it unclear
To write off lines that don't make sense
I love myself better than you
I know it's wrong so what should I do?
And one more special message to go
And then I'm done, and I can go home
I love myself better than you
It's like he just wants to finish the song so he could be done with it so he adds lines at the end that do not have any particular meaning except to show that he wants the song to be done and has nothing else to say.
what its really about | Reviewer: levi | 3/12/09
the lyric MY MOTHER DIED EVERY NIGHT refers to her second husband, his stepdad. he was a drunk and nearly every night he would beat wendi (kurts mother) nearly to the point of unconsiosness. if you dont believe me check COME AS YOU ARE: THE STORY OF NIRVANA by michael azerrad. the lyric DONT QUOTE ME ON THAT came from a game that kurt and dave played while they lived together, one would ask a question and the other would provide an answer, followed by "but dont quote me on that". the lyric IM ON A PLAIN, I CANT COMPLAIN is a play on words. he is referring to the point when the band was still choosing witch label record to sign to. they would fly all over the country to see executives, eat the free fod, then not provide a sure answer. they wanted to milk this as long as possible to get food
good grief | Reviewer: chris | 1/1/09
jacob, it's "on a zip code". why would you ever think it was anything different. maybe 'coz you are an attention seeker??
everyone else, lets clarify two facts.
1. kurt cobain killed himself, 'coz he was very depressed and felt that his music, his life and nirvana's had been servely misrepresented 'coz of the mainstream success. despite all their flaws, kurt and country loved each other. it's pretty evident.
2. kurt had no serious mental problems. he was a drug addict. that's what drugs do to you. maybe a few of you guys need to check into rehab.
anyway, great song and the best band to come out of america, in my opinion, besides the pixies and the smashing pumpkins. just enjoy the fuckern great music, give these theories a rest and let kurts soul rest in peace.

Everyone trying to decipher the meaning of kurt's song are wasting their time. Kurt himself admitted he didn't know exactly what his songs were supposed to talk about - instead, he focused on melodies, and communicating something through his melodies.
everyone is right | Reviewer: space cowboy | 9/30/08
everyone needs to chill out. kurt always knew people were going to take his lyrics and try to make their own meanings out of them. he sometimes talked about that in his interviews. kurt, of course, had his own opinions of his songs meanings, being it random or not. but he also wanted his audience to relate to his songs as well. he said specifically that people can determine what his songs mean to them or not. so, in a way, everyone is right. people's bickering over nirvana's songs is pointless. kurt knew that and hated that.
Forgot to put on the zip code WRONG | Reviewer: Jacob | 9/12/08
I have a teacher who recently told me his name was in a nirvanna song. This is very true. When is parents got divorced he wwent to a therapy group in a church. Nirvana played at the church one day for the therapy group. My teacher asked nirvana if they could put his name in the song. It dosent say Forgot to put on the zip code, it really says "Forgot to put Rob Mazzucco" my teachers name. if you listen closly you can tell
oh well, okay | Reviewer: John | 7/26/08
Alright I'm not here to act as if I know what this song mean or any other of nirvan's songs for that matter. But, I would like to throw my thoughts in on the line "my mother died every night" ok maybe just maybe his mother was an alcoholic and I remember reading something about his mother being an alcoholic in "heavier than heaven" and so maybe he was refering to her getting drunk and passing out lol as stupid as that may sound who knows.. hmm maybe I should keep be dumb opinions to myself lol eh oh well

I myself dont try to think what the lyrics meant because in an interview with krist noveselic he said kurt hated the most when people liked his songs but made up their own ideas for what the lyrics meant. in my opinion that (and depression) are the reasons he killed himself. but you can tell just by hearing the lyrics how deep this song is
