The last of the good ones | Reviewer: American Psycho | 12/17/08
Ok, to the reviewer before me, The Beatles are the all time greatest band on the face of the planet. Period. No acceptions. Nothing else to be said on the subject. Nada. And I strongly doubt a 43 year old man would listen to Nirvana, or anything on MTV.
Now, on the subject of Nirvana, they make my ears sing with happiness. One of the best bands ever, and a particularly amazing song by them is Come as Your Are. True grung song. Now, true grunge is one of the hardest genres to perfect or master. You must have the hard, loud rock music, but it also must still have that depressing, slower tinge for perfect grunge. Nirvana is the only grunge band who has truly mastered this. Bravo for them!
Old & Knew | Reviewer: cb | 5/23/08
I was almost 43 years old at the end of 1991 and long sick & tired of what was passing for rock music. One night I couldn't sleep so I went out onto the balcony of my Miami condo overlooking the pool & tennis courts. I had my big-ass headphones on an extention and was listening to MTV's 120 Minutes, playing thru my stereo.
Suddenly I heard this guitar riff;
ching a ching, ching chinga ching ching a cing...
Then all hell broke loose...
Then everything calmed down again and this voice came on...
Every hair on my body was standing on end! What the fuck was this?
I went back inside and saw the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video going on. My mind was utterly blown!
I bought the album the next day and was freaking stunned!
Now; I saw Elvis on TV when I was a kid. Wasn't impressed. Saw The Beatles on Ed Sullivan; sucked. The Stones turned out to be better. Played in a band in the '70s and saw some amazing concerts; Led Zepplin (twice), Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd.
Nothing ever hit me like Nirvana. That first time I listened to 'Nevermind' I knew the world had changed and that these guys weren't taking any prisoners!
And I was right. They inaugerated the last great chapter of rock music and nothing has topped it since!
Nevermind Rocks | Reviewer: Heavy Fuel | 3/4/05
This is definatly Nirvana's best album. 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' is the
best song ever, and is one of my favorite songs of all time. Other tracks
are great such as 'In Bloom', 'Lithium', 'Come As You Are', & 'Breed'.
'Smells Like Teen Spirit' is one song I could play over n over again, Kurt
Cobain sings my favorite YEAH! chant in 'With the lights out, it's less
dangerous', and 'here we are now, entertain us'. I own this album and is
one of my favorite albums of all time. Any Rock fan must own this CD because it rules.
