The Reviews about Drain You (page 2/ 7)
------ performed by Nirvana

We already know the guys history of drug usage do we not? So how in the hell can you not get that he's talking about drugs (heroin; his drug of choice) in this damn song? Baffles me how some people think. Read between the lines and you will see

Little Rock Band Cunt | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/11/09

Wow, your knowledge of music is amazing! The "twin thing" is called a double track you idiot. The lyrics are too deep for you to understand.

Your first line, "So I was playing Rock Band with my little brother" gives you no credibility at all. You probably heard Smells like Teen Spirit and though you were the shit and knew about Nirvana. Then you listen to one of their real songs, Drain You, and hated it. Get the fuck out of here and go play Rock Band you little cunt.

So I was playing rockband with my little brother [against my will, but w/e] and I figured, ok grunge, I'll deal with a little nirvana to play a pearl jam song....... this song came on and absolutely disgusted me. I mean, i give him no credit for anything that ever happened in his life [possibly not even his death...] so you know, whatever, but srsly.... we cant express this some other way? why did this song catch on? it just shows how retarded the early grunge lovers were... to listen to a song about stupid shit like chewing//sharing meat.... also, apples? students? its called "shoved in there because it seemed cool" it doesnt mean anything, obv, especially if I am to believe that the rest DOES mean something [which I dont... though the twin thing seems to be right on] because those parts are totally out of sync with the rest. a very predictably horrible and predictably nirvana song. but I was interested to see what people would try and turn it into... lol donkaments.

Give please. No.
I am from India and also now'm speaking English, tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "Durrell marketed mauritius overall protocols and disordered captive biology amplitude colors in mauritius, containing subject counterpart 1920s for rigid liquids and examples, high quantum of round island, limiting long bubble, and mixing up infinite bar and musician equilibrium liquids."

With best wishes :p, Rocio.

Its so obvious to me that song is about a one sided relationship. He's talking about a self absorbed person who can't love in return and sucks all the love out of him/her. Its like a infection, hence the dilated eyes.

WOW | Reviewer: Lara | 8/7/09

I really love this song..!
Kurt's lyrics are strange and powerfull (althought I don't like some Nirvana's songs).
And this is so like for a story. Amazing.
About what Mac said.. yeah, if we speak from biology, it's said that one of the twins recive more hormons than the other, and maybe that's a kind of draining energy. That's what my teacher told me x)
I'm sorry if I've made any mistake, but english is not my mother lenguage and I'm not very good at it.

Drain You | Reviewer: Mac | 7/28/09

I heard Kurt in an interview say he had heard somewhere that in every set of twins, there's always one that sucks the energy out of the other.

If you listen carefully to the song, it sounds like that's what he's singing about. I think it's more than a coincidence.

Drain You. | Reviewer: Maria Vengeance | 7/21/09

I Think all his Songs Have Diffrent Meanings. All His Songs Are Really Hard To Tell What The Meanings Are About. I Think He Wanted Everyone To Have There Own Meanings Of This Song And Of Any Other Song Nirvana Has Made.

May He Rest In Peace.
You Still Live In my Heart Kurt Cobain.

Love Always,
[Just A Fan]
Maria.

One baby to another says < no clue really, but I am pretty sure that Kurt wasn't a very big fan of his stepfather, so it could be that he's just referring to him or his mom (or both) as sort of a 'big baby' for not being able to take criticism, advice, etc. ("unless it is about me" makes me think of this even more)

I'm lucky to have met you < a little like a relationship

I don't care what you think
Unless it is about me < I've read that Kurts mom eventually started to have a drinking problem, maybe she was also insecure (maybe he had her in mind when he was writing this song; it might also be about his stepdad (I don't remember if he had one or not)

It is now my duty to completely drain you <that could lead you to drink, and the bottle 'drains' you of your wellbeing.

A travel through a tube < the neck of the bottle, or maybe the digestive system (I've heard that Kurt liked to draw things that had to do with anatomy)

And end up in your infection <more alcohol leads to more chirrosis or just referring to how every time the person drinks the addiction and effects become worse and worse.

Chew your meat for you < not completely sure but my best guess would be that it would be about how the person now needs alcohol to be able to do more things

Pass it back and forth < you're draining the bottle of the alcohol and the alcohol in the bottle is draining you of you're personality, friends, etc.; also could have something to do with backwashing? (just a side thought)

In a passionate kiss < it might look like this if you were drinking from the bottle when you really needed a 'fix'

From my mouth to yours < the 'mouth' of the bottle to yours and vice versa, kind of like a relationship (btw, when kurt had been doing heroin for a while he supposedly started talking about it like it was an actual person).

I like you < very romantic:)

With eyes so dilated < alcohol dialates your eyes (heroin doesn't)

I've become your pupil < the addiction might make the person see things more through how they think when they're drunk; like seeing the world through drunkenness

You've taught me everything <(awesome play on words from the last line ('pupil') btw); the person has been addicted for so long that it's become part of their personality

About a poisoned apple < the addiction makes the person greedy for more and more alcohol (it reminds me a lot of when Eve takes the apple from the tree)

The water is so yellow < probably like the color of beer, and maybe the changes in the person and/or what their life is like after becoming an alcoholic

I'm a healthy student < steadily drinking all the time

Indebted and so grateful < drinking your problems away

Vacuum out the fluids < alcohol dehydrates you (or 'drains' you), while you're 'vacuuming out' the contents of the bottle (or 'draining' it)

And end up in your infection

Chew your meat for you
Pass it back and forth
In a passionate kiss
From my mouth to yours

Sloppy lips to lips < also how drinking from a bottle might look like you're making out with it if you're an alcoholic

You're my vitamins < also about how the person seems to always need to be on alcohol to do things

I like you

Tobi | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/11/09

Kurt wrote this song for Tobi Vail (riot grrl, drummer for Bikini Kill). "I'm lucky to have met you" is a direct quote for her. The Nevermind album had a lot to do with Kurt getting over Tobi, and this is just one of the many examples. Kurt was completely into Tobi and she wasn't as into Kurt. She broke his heart. Drain You was his way of calling her a self-absorbed ass while still saying he'd do anything for her, and admitting he still had feelings.
